Cryptocurrency wallet manufacturer Trezor has disclosed that approximately 347,000 customer email addresses were compromised due to a breach at its third-party email service provider, Brevo. The attackers used this access to send phishing emails from Trezor's official domain on September 9, which contained a link to a malicious application designed to steal wallet recovery information. Trezor blocked the fraudulent download site within 20 minutes, but not before around 2,500 individuals had clicked the link. The company emphasized that Trezor hardware wallets and user accounts were not directly hacked. Funds remain safe for users who only clicked the link but did not submit their recovery seed. The broader Brevo breach reportedly affected 120 customer accounts, enabling phishing campaigns impersonating various companies. Trezor has warned users to delete suspicious emails, avoid clicking links, and never share personal information or wallet recovery phrases. If a user has already entered wallet details via the phishing link, they should immediately transfer all funds to a new wallet. In response to this incident, Trezor pledged to review its supplier relationships and security requirements. This marks the company's second data breach in recent months, following an August incident where personal data of 13,700 customers was exposed after a hack at shipping service ShipMonk.

DeFi Platform Empowa Reports Theft of Large Amount of ADA and NIGHT

The DeFi platform Empowa reported a theft of a significant amount of ADA and NIGHT tokens from its treasury. Between November 2025 and June 2026, a total of 143,710 ADA was withdrawn from the treasury wallet on the Cardano network. The same wallet, unbeknownst to the team, also held 48,219 NIGHT tokens from a Midnight project airdrop, with a quarter of them remaining locked. Suspicious activity began on November 26, 2025. The perpetrator used an intermediary address to supply 100,000 ADA as collateral to borrow USDCx on the Liqwid lending protocol, later converting and bridging assets out of Cardano. In a second incident from June to August, 4.24 million of Empowa's native EMP tokens were taken from two addresses. Approximately 850,000 EMP were sold for ADA on DEXs, converted to USDCx, with 4,810 USDCx sent to the same intermediary address from the first theft. Empowa's investigation suggests the attacker has controlled the private keys for an extended period, using the treasury wallet to claim NIGHT tokens. The team has ruled out any connection to the June hack of the SecondFi platform, noting their compromised wallets were corporate-grade. Blockchain experts are involved, and Empowa plans to pursue legal channels if stolen funds reach centralized exchanges, while insider involvement is a suspected but unproven theory.
