Anthropic Tests "Lobster" Conway: Supports Independent UI, Webhook Activation, and Custom Extension Standards

Anthropic is actively developing "Conway," a persistent agent solution designed to provide Claude with an always-on, independently running intelligent environment. It features a standalone UI instance, operating as a traditional chat interface and more of a dedicated workspace. Conway can directly control browsers, connect to external services, and integrate Claude Code for deeper code execution and task handling. It supports Webhook-based invocation, enabling external services or events to trigger automated workflows. Additionally, Conway will support for extensions through the upcoming CNW ZIP standard, allowing developers to build custom tools, UI tabs, and context handlers, similar to an app store ecosystem. This enhancement aims to transform Claude from a reactive conversational tool into a proactive, multi-step task assistant, positioning it as a strong competitor in the AI agent space and advancing the trend toward always-on AI capabilities.

‘Tax headache eased?’ IRS extends crypto relief to end of 2026

The U.S. IRS has extended temporary tax relief for cryptocurrency investors until the end of 2026, allowing them to use alternative methods to calculate capital gains instead of relying solely on broker-submitted reports. This is the second such extension and aims to reduce tax burdens for investors. Previously, the mandatory FIFO (first-in, first-out) method often resulted in higher taxes by requiring the sale of older, more appreciated coins first. The alternative methods enable investors to potentially report more recent, lower-gain or loss-making sales. The relief also addresses operational challenges for crypto exchanges, which faced significant compliance burdens under the stricter reporting rules. Web3 Security Stack Highlights Threat from Malicious NPM Package

Web3 Antivirus has identified a malicious NPM package disguised as an OpenClaw installer that deploys a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) targeting macOS users. The package, once installed, launches a fake CLI installer and prompts for the Keychain password. If provided, it steals sensitive data including seed phrases, browser credentials, wallet information, and SSH keys, sending them to the attacker’s server. Previously, Web3 Antivirus warned about legitimate Chrome extensions—QuickLens and ShotBird—that turned malicious after ownership transfers. These were used to inject malicious scripts and steal user data, including exchange session details and wallet credentials. Looking ahead to 2026, key Web3 security threats include smart contract exploits (due to logic errors and access control issues), phishing, social engineering, wallet drainers, and oracle manipulation. The primary goals of these attacks are data theft and fund draining.
