Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy Inc. (Nasdaq: MSTR), has once again fueled speculation that the company will announce another Bitcoin purchase on Monday by posting "Bitcoin Drive engaged" on August 2. The Sunday post was accompanied by Strategy's customary purchase tracker, aligning with Saylor's established practice of signaling treasury changes shortly before the weekly reports.

A similar signal received on Sunday preceded the company's announcement on July 27, when Saylor wrote: "We're going to need another color," after which Strategy disclosed a larger cash reserve. This timing coincidence has strengthened expectations of another treasury status announcement on Monday.
Registry Shows Recent Bitcoin Purchases Followed by Sales
Strategy's real-time registry reflects data at the time of publication, while Saylor's chart was taken earlier, on August 2. It lists 116 recorded treasury operations and 843,775 $BTC acquired for approximately $63.69 billion at an average price of $75,476 per Bitcoin.

The registry reflects two recent Bitcoin sales totaling 3,588 $BTC, including 1,363 $BTC and 2,225 $BTC, reducing Strategy's holdings from 847,363 $BTC to 843,775 $BTC. According to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company made these sales to fund preferred stock dividend payments and replenish its U.S. dollar reserve.
Recent reports also show that Strategy made no Bitcoin purchases during the week ending July 26, while increasing its U.S. dollar reserve to approximately $3.75 billion. The increased reserve raised the estimated coverage period for preferred stock dividends and debt interest to about 2.1 years.
Monday's Data Update May Mark a Return to Accumulation
Financial risks remain high after Strategy reported an operating loss of $8.33 billion for the second quarter of 2026, a sharp reversal from an operating profit of $14.03 billion for the same period a year earlier. These results include an $8.32 billion unrealized loss on the company's digital assets compared to a $14.05 billion unrealized gain in Q2 2025.
Management could also raise up to $1.25 billion through additional Bitcoin sales to replenish the dollar reserve, which is used to pay preferred stock dividends and debt interest. Therefore, Monday's anticipated disclosure will show whether the "Bitcoin Drive" message signaled a resumption of asset accumulation, as Strategy balances its own holdings of 843,775 $BTC with growing cash obligations and active capital management.
