Grayscale, one of the world's leading digital asset management companies, has completed the rebalancing process for its funds in the second quarter of 2026. The company updated the weightings of assets in its DeFi, Smart Contracts, and Decentralized AI funds, with the inclusion of $BNB into the Smart Contracts fund being particularly noteworthy.
According to Grayscale's data, as of August 3rd, the largest asset in the DeFi fund was Uniswap (UNI) with a share of 34.16%. It was followed by Ondo Finance (ONDO) with 25.44%, Aave (AAVE) with 19.97%, Ethena (ENA) with 12.19%, Curve DAO (CRV) with 4.42%, and Lido DAO (LDO) with 3.82%. Thus, the company revised the structure of its portfolio in the decentralized finance sector in accordance with current market conditions.
The most noticeable changes occurred in the Smart Contracts fund. Grayscale added $BNB to the fund's portfolio for the first time. After the update, the share of $BNB in the fund is now approximately 31%, while Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) each hold 29%. This move is seen as a demonstration of Grayscale's confidence in the $BNB ecosystem and the long-term potential of the $BNB blockchain.
The company also made changes to its Decentralized AI fund portfolio. Grayscale sold part of its positions in NEAR Protocol, reducing its share in the portfolio to 31 percent. At the same time, its share in Bittensor (TAO) was increased to 29 percent. This adjustment indicates an update to the company's investment strategy regarding blockchain projects focused on AI.
Experts state that Grayscale's regular fund rebalancing operations are conducted in accordance with changes in market capitalization, liquidity, project development, and investment strategies. Such updates can provide important signals about which digital assets institutional investors are showing greater interest in.
Analysts note that the inclusion of $BNB into the Smart Contracts fund composition, in particular, indicates that institutional investors are beginning to show growing interest not only in traditional smart contract networks like Ethereum and Solana, but also in the $BNB Chain ecosystem. However, it is noted that the fund's capital allocation may be reviewed in the future depending on market conditions.
