Ethereum: 3 key factors signaling ETH’s road ahead

ambcryptoPublished on 2025-09-21Last updated on 2025-09-21

Key Takeaways

Why is Ethereum showing bullish signals?

Fund holdings hit a record 6.7 million ETH, while mega whales are aggressively accumulating, signaling strong institutional demand.

Which price levels matter now?

A breakout above $4.8K is possible if whale accumulation grows, but a drop below $4.3K could follow if selling pressure intensifies.

Since hitting $4.7k a week ago, Ethereum [ETH] has struggled to keep up with an upward momentum. As of this writing, Ethereum was trading at $4,471, marking a 0.12% drop on daily charts and 4.09% on weekly charts.

Amid this market drawdown, XWIN Research, on CryptoQuant, observed three key market players defying odds.

3 bullish factors driving Ethereum’s momentum

According to CryptoQuant, Ethereum has flashed three major signals indicating strengthening market conditions. As such, demand for ETH is soaring across spot, Futures, and options markets.

For starters, institutions are aggressively accumulating ETH, with fund holdings of Ethereum hiking to an all-time high. Thus, ETH held by institutions and exchange-traded products has surpassed the 6.7 million mark.

Such a massive spike suggests that capital is accumulating ETH as a core asset, creating a significant basis of demand. Unlike the previous retail-driven way, this cycle is mostly institutionally driven.

Secondly, Ethereum’s Future Open Interest has surged to significant levels, suggesting that institutional investors are actively trading derivatives.

Typically, rising OI during a period of stability indicates strong confidence in the market and signals that the rally is sustainable.

Finally, in addition to this institutional demand, Ethereum mega whales are also aggressively stacking. Inasmuch as so, addresses holding over 10k ETH are currently accumulating ETH at an unprecedented pace.

This further validates strong bullish sentiments among holdings funds and CME activity.

What’s holding ETH back?

Interestingly, while large entities are aggressively stacking ETH, retail traders are taking a step back and are aggressively exiting the market.

Spot Taker CVD data from Cryptoquant showed that sellers have dominated the spot market.

Over the past week, the spot market recorded Taker Sell Dominant, indicating that more sell orders are executed in the market than buy orders.

In fact, Ethereum’s spot market has recorded a negative Buy Sell Delta for seven consecutive days.

According to Coinalyze, the altcoin saw 45.5k ETH in Sell Volume compared to 37k ETH Buy Volume, extending a week-long trend.

As a result, Ethereum recorded a negative Delta of -8.2k ETH, a clear sign of aggressive selling activity.

Tag of war: ETH at crossroads?

AMBCrypto’s analysis uncovered that Ethereum was experiencing a mismatch in sentiment between large entities and retail traders.

Notably, while whales and institutions were bullish, retailers were bearish, leaving the market at a crossroads.

Having said that, if these conditions persist, we could see prolonged consolidation. Likewise, if large entities increase their accumulation, and retailers reduce spending, ETH will break out and target $4.8k.

However, the momentum to the upside is slowly fading while the downward trend is strengthening. At press time, the altcoin’s Stochastic RSI fell to 14, reaching oversold territory.

In addition, its Relative Vigor Index (RVGI) dropped to 0.09 after making a bearish crossover, further evidencing weakening momentum.

Therefore, ETH is at a breaking point, and if large entities also start spending, ETH will breach $4.3k support and drop to $4173.

You'll Be Surprised How Much WeChat's Architecture Differs from Telegram's

An article compares the core architectural philosophies of WeChat and Telegram, highlighting fundamental differences in data storage, monetization, and developer ecosystems. **Data Storage:** Telegram offers unlimited, synchronized cloud storage for seamless access across all devices. In contrast, WeChat stores chat history locally on each device, requiring a manual migration process for transfer and tethering desktop sessions to an active smartphone. **Features & Ecosystem:** Telegram's open Bot API allows for easy, free bot creation, while WeChat's massive ecosystem of over 4.8 million "mini-programs" operates within a closed, curated, and more regulated platform. Commenting also differs: Telegram uses integrated discussion threads for channels, whereas WeChat relies on pre-moderated comments for official accounts and separate chats for interaction. **File Sharing & Payments:** Telegram supports large file transfers (up to 4GB for Premium), while WeChat limits most files to 200MB. A key divergence is in payments: WeChat Pay is deeply integrated into daily life and commerce in China, whereas Telegram lacks a comparable built-in fiat payment system, focusing instead on third-party bots and crypto. **Analysis:** The comparison reveals two distinct models: WeChat is a tightly integrated, closed ecosystem deeply embedded in the real economy, while Telegram prioritizes open protocols, flexible data handling, and low barriers for developers. An added perspective notes that WeChat's fusion of messaging and payments in a single interface without end-to-end encryption for chats potentially broadens the attack surface, raising security questions as more functions converge.

Hacker Leaks GTA6 and Launches a Token: Leaked Videos Become Ad Space for $CYBERLEEK, Must Buy Tokens to Vote for Next Clip

A hacker group called "CyberLeek" has leaked gameplay footage of the highly anticipated video game *GTA 6*, which is slated for release in 2026. Simultaneously, the group launched a meme token, $CYBERLEEK, on Solana. The leaks, which include maps and gameplay clips, are heavily watermarked with advertisements urging viewers to buy the token. Investigations of blockchain data reveal that the token was created and funded from a single wallet approximately eight hours before the first leak was released, suggesting a coordinated plan. The group has implemented a voting system where token holders can "vote" for the next type of content to be leaked by sending $CYBERLEEK tokens to a designated wallet—a process that permanently transfers the tokens to the hackers. This creates a self-sustaining cycle where interest in the leaks drives token purchases. Financially, the operation involved minimal upfront costs (less than $3,500 in out-of-pocket expenses) but generated significant revenue. On its first day, the token saw $15 million in trading volume, netting the creators an estimated $30,000 from transaction fees alone. While the group later burned a large portion of its developer-held tokens (worth over $1 million) to build trust, the fee-generating mechanism remains intact. The game's publisher, Take-Two Interactive, has initiated legal proceedings to identify the hackers. Despite this, the case demonstrates a new model where leaked intellectual property is used as leverage to promote and profit from a cryptocurrency, with meme token markets serving as an additional revenue stream.
