Serbian Finance Minister Siniša Mali met with representatives of the Solana Foundation and the Solana Policy Institute (SPI) in Belgrade to discuss the development of digital assets and the country's financial infrastructure.
Mali announced the meeting on his Instagram. It took place as part of the Solana Summit in Belgrade, which is being hosted by the Serbian capital this year.
Serbia Aims to Develop a Tokenized Capital Market
According to Mali, meeting participants discussed several directions for the development of digital assets in Serbia:
- improving the digital assets law;
- creating a modern infrastructure for the financial system and capital market;
- the possibility of launching tokenized securities on the Belgrade Stock Exchange;
- the participation of Solana in EXPO 2027, which will be held in Belgrade.
The specific emphasis on securities tokenization is significant for the crypto industry, as blockchain is increasingly being viewed as infrastructure for issuing and trading digital representations of traditional financial assets.
It is worth noting that, in the opinion of Consensys founder Joseph Lubin, tokenization will encompass the entire global economy.
Mali noted that Serbia has "stable public finances, a strong IT sector, and one of the strongest developer communities in the region."
"Our goal is for Serbia to become a place from which innovative financial projects are launched and then developed in Europe and worldwide," the minister added.
Recall that the SPI was established in March 2025. The independent non-profit organization was founded by the CEO of the DeFi Education Fund, Miller Whitehouse-Levine. It focuses on working with government officials and legislators, aiming to explain the role of decentralized networks, particularly Solana, in shaping the digital economy and approaches to cryptocurrency regulation.
