虽迟但到，Ripple 为何强入稳定币赛道？

如今，稳定币市场规模不断扩大，根据 The Block Pro 数据显示，2024 年 3 月调整后的稳定币链上交易额出现较大幅度上涨，升至 8938 亿美元，涨幅为 41.3%；已发行稳定币供应规模有所增加，涨幅为 6.2% 达到 1374 亿美元（四月初更是升至 1500 亿美元上方），其中 Tether 和 Circle 已几乎「霸占」了全部稳定币市场，USDT 市场份额占比高达 76.3%，而 USDC 的市场份额则接近 20%，两家合计市场主导地位超过 96%。

那么，Ripple 为何要勇闯稳定币这个高度垄断的市场呢？原因主要有三：

首先，稳定币市场需求仍在不断扩大。事实上，稳定币是加密货币交易者中最受欢迎的数字资产类型之一，（理论上）不受比特币 (BTC) 和以太坊 (ETH) 等大型加密货币的价格波动影响。根据 Ripple 的判断，稳定币市场规模到 2028 年预计会超过 2.8 万亿美元，而且加密市场对于能够提供信任、稳定性和实用性的稳定币有着明显需求，这也是他们决定进入该领域的关键原因之一。

其次，稳定币有助于推动 Ripple 生态发展。正如 Ripple 首席技术官 David Schwartz 所解释的那样，探索稳定币市场也有部分「机会主义」原因，「毕竟稳定币是一个不断增长的市场，推出稳定币可以让你成为一家『不付利息的银行』，这似乎是一个很不错的商机。」如果顺利推出稳定币，可以给 XRP Ledger 的 DeFi 生态注入更多获利，虽然这个 Ripple 支持的区块链上也有 DEX 等服务，但不得不承认，XRP Ledger 的使用率相比于其他区块链依然较低。

欧盟最大的银行之一桑坦德银行 (Santander) 在意识到使用 XRP 无法满足其客户的需求后，决定不再与 Ripple 合作；

由于 XRP 跨境支付相关成本不断增加，以及 MoneyGram（速汇金）需要与分散地区的加密货币交易所建立第三方关系，Ripple 与 MoneyGram 的关系也戛然而止；

阿曼第二大银行 Bank Dhofar 曾表示将使用 RippleNet 并为客户提供通过 Ripple 的支付服务，但这是该银行网站上唯一提及的内容，而许多其他应用程序（包括支付应用程序和汇款服务）在其公司网站上根本没有提及 Ripple。

值得一提的是，XRP 是否是一种证券的问题还要等到 Ripple 与美国证券交易委员会长达四年的法律斗争在上诉结束后才能得到真正的答案，面对可能遭遇美国证券交易委员会高达 20 亿美元的罚款，Ripple 急切需要寻找新的、可靠的收入来源，从这个角度来看，稳定币不失是个优先选择。

即便晚入场，Ripple 也要瓜分稳定币市场这块大蛋糕

我们都知道，在加密货币领域，稳定币被视为最重要的工具之一。无论是中心化还是去中心化的交易平台，无论是现货还是期货市场，大部分交易都是以稳定币进行计价的。尽管稳定币整体市值在加密货币领域里并不太起眼，但其实利润相当可观，而这似乎也是 PayPal、First Digital Trust、Ripple 等公司争相恐后进入这一领域的原因，毕竟这块蛋糕太大了——

稳定币钱包 Beam 首席执行官 Andy Bromberg 分析指出，由于美国国债的利率较高，导致美元稳定币已经变成了一种「利润丰厚的生意」。根据美国政府披露数据显示，2023 年 11 月至 2024 年 4 月期间发行的所谓 I 类债券（一种每六个月调整一次利率的美国债券）综合利率达到 5.27%，这意味着如果 Ripple 稳定币规模达到 10 亿美元，仅利息年收入这一项就会超过 5000 万美元。

要知道，在稳定币市场里获得 10 亿美元的发行规模似乎并不困难，以最近 Ethena Labs 推出的稳定币 USDe 为例，其市值在不到四个月时间里就突破了 20 亿美元，并跻身到市值前五大稳定币行列。

当然，行业内其他案例也值得 Ripple 参考借鉴，比如与 Ripple 稳定币设计初衷非常相似的 PYUSD。实际上，PayPal 发行的 PYUSD 也是 100% 由美元存款、短期美国国债和类似现金等价物支持，而且同样部署在以太坊链上且遵循 ERC-20 标准，但从发行至今规模仅达到约 2 亿美元，交易量不足 7 万笔。而导致 PYUSD 裹足不前的一个主要原因可能是其实际应用场景并不丰富，虽然背靠 PayPal 这家支付巨头，但在加密领域始终难以与 DeFi、DEX 等更好地交互。

坦率地说，现阶段稳定币市场尚未形成「赢家通吃」的格局，也给不少新晋入场者提供了机会和发展空间。假设稳定币市场整体规模如 Ripple 预测的那样增长 12 倍，那么这块「蛋糕」显然将变得十分诱人，倘若最终顺利跻身市场前三的话，Ripple 无疑能进一步巩固自己在加密市场里的江湖地位。
