Why are gas fees on Solana (SOL) generally lower than on Ethereum (ETH)?

Hey, I've been curious about something! Why do gas fees on Solana (SOL) tend to be way lower compared to Ethereum (ETH)? I mean, both are popular in the crypto world, but it seems like Solana has figured out a way to keep those fees down. What's the deal?
