Platform Token Soars 15x in Half a Month, Pons Tops Robinhood Chain Charts for Both Token Launches and Trading

In just half a month, the Pons platform token (PONS) surged over 15x in value as Pons solidified its position as the leading token launch and trading platform on Robinhood Chain, capturing both the highest daily token creation volume and transaction volume. Following the exit of previous leader NOXA, competition initially favored Flap before Pons emerged dominant around mid-July. By July 26th, Pons accounted for 77.1% of total trading volume across all Robinhood Chain launchpads. Pons's success is attributed to its streamlined, one-transaction process for deploying a token contract and its corresponding Uniswap V3 liquidity pool simultaneously, eliminating the need for bonding curves or complex migrations. This simplicity, combined with low creation costs and immediate tradability, attracted significant creation activity and speculative trading. The meteoric rise of its native token, PONS, further fueled platform growth. A tokenomics model directing 80% of protocol fees to buy back and burn PONS created a reinforcing cycle: platform usage boosted PONS value, which in turn attracted more users. Looking ahead, Pons V2 aims to expand beyond meme tokens by integrating support for paying fees in stablecoins (USDG) and RWA assets, aligning with Robinhood Chain's broader focus on on-chain finance and stock tokens.

Memecoins Reclaim 29% of Spot Trading Volume on Solana DEX, Highest Since August 2025

Memecoins on Solana have surged back to account for 29% of the network's decentralized exchange (DEX) spot trading volume for the week of July 20-26, marking their highest share since August 2025. This represents a significant jump from the 10-15% levels seen just weeks prior. The resurgence is largely attributed to the explosive rise of the memecoin $ANSEM ("The Black Bull"), which saw an 18,000% surge in three days after its June launch and peaked at a market cap near $449 million, revitalizing trading activity on platforms like Pump.fun. Despite this memecoin rally, the data refutes the simplified view of Solana as a memecoin-dominated chain. SOL-stablecoin pairs accounted for 37% of weekly volume, stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps made up 22%, with foreign tokens, project tokens, and tokenized assets comprising smaller shares. Memecoins ranked second, not first. The article highlights Solana's underlying strength beyond speculative activity. The network's stablecoin supply surpassed $15 billion in July and remained resilient during the 2026 market downturn. Furthermore, Solana leads all networks in the number of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), hosting 2,582 such assets valued over $3.5 billion. Institutional adoption, evidenced by firms like Western Union and B2C2 utilizing the chain for settlements, underscores its growing utility. While memecoin volumes are cyclical, Solana's stablecoin and RWA ecosystems have shown consistent, counter-cyclical growth.

Crossing Boundaries Is Hard: Neither Prediction Market Nor Perp DEX Leader Has Replicated Their Own Success

Over the past six months, two of the hottest trading sectors—prediction markets and Perpetual DEXs (Perp DEXs)—have been attempting to cross into each other's territories. In April, prediction market platform Polymarket announced plans to launch perpetual contracts (Perps) for crypto, stocks, and commodities. In late May, the regulated platform Kalshi launched CFTC-regulated crypto Perps. Meanwhile, leading Perp DEX Hyperliquid moved in the opposite direction, launching its HIP-4 outcome markets for event-based trading in May. Initial results from these crossovers have been mixed, showing that established user habits and liquidity do not easily transfer to new product categories. Hyperliquid's HIP-4 platform saw strong initial demand, with daily volume reaching nearly $30 million during the World Cup, but active markets have since collapsed from over 120 to under 20, with daily volume often falling below $1 million. This highlights the inherent challenge: perpetual contracts maintain liquidity around core assets, while event contracts expire and require constant renewal of interest and liquidity. Similarly, Polymarket's Perps, still in an invite-only phase, saw daily volume drop from an initial ~$48 million to around $18 million by late July, with open interest (OI) at only ~$26.4 million—a fraction of Hyperliquid's ~$7.7 billion OI. Kalshi's Perps had a faster start, accumulating $16.1 billion in volume over six weeks, but recent daily volume has plummeted over 80% to around $80 million, with OI remaining in the millions, far below major Perp DEXs. The article concludes that replicating the deep liquidity and entrenched user behavior of a core market is exceptionally difficult. For these platforms, deepening their dominance in their original "home" sectors—whether Perp DEXs or prediction markets—may be a more viable strategy than pursuing a broad "everything exchange" model through跨界 expansion. Success ultimately depends on sustained accumulation of users, liquidity, and market depth in a core niche.
