Whitechain Announces Relaunch as L2 Network Built on OP Stack

Abstract

Whitechain, part of the W Group, is rebranding as a distribution-focused Layer 2 (L2) network built on the OP Stack. The platform aims to help Web3 projects attract users and liquidity by leveraging the existing 40-million-user fintech and crypto ecosystem, which includes the WhiteBIT exchange. The project shifts the traditional L2 focus from performance to distribution, providing a pathway to user acquisition beyond the blockchain itself. It will support projects at different stages: early-stage teams can apply for up to $300,000 in funding, established protocols can get customized migration and marketing support, and multi-chain projects can access new audiences. A public testnet opens on August 18, alongside applications for funding and migration. At its mainnet launch, Whitechain will offer native "Day 1 primitives" like a DEX, oracle, and bridge, built on the established OP Stack infrastructure.

The blockchain platform Whitechain is relaunching as an Ethereum-based distribution-oriented L2 network. Representatives of the project informed Incrypted about this.

Whitechain is part of W Group—a global fintech ecosystem with a reach of over 40 million users worldwide. The group also includes the cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBIT, whose audience exceeds 10 million users.

A press release states that the platform is designed to solve one of the biggest challenges for Web3 projects—user acquisition and reach. According to the team's statement, Whitechain is intended to combine on-chain infrastructure with the distribution capabilities of an already established financial and crypto ecosystem. This should provide Web3 projects with a pathway to attract users far beyond the blockchain itself, the statement says.

Traditionally, L2 networks have competed on technical performance, scalability, and transaction costs. The project team noted that Whitechain places distribution at the core of its model. Relaunched on OP Stack as an Ethereum-based L2 network, Whitechain aims to help projects tackle tasks that often become the most challenging after product creation: user acquisition, liquidity, and maintaining stable activity.

"There are many strong ecosystems, but what increasingly distinguishes them from others is their distribution capability," said Vladimir Nosov, founder and president of W Group, as well as founder and CEO of WhiteBIT.

According to him, the industry has created complex infrastructure, but strong technology alone does not guarantee mass adoption.

"We want Whitechain to change this equation. Our ambition is to provide developers with a reliable technical foundation and direct the distribution power of our ecosystem towards products that are ready to scale," added Nosov.

Three Tracks of Support for Projects

The Whitechain relaunch is supported by W Group. The program is structured around three tracks for projects at different stages of development. It offers opportunities for funding and growth for both teams with promising ideas and projects that have already found their audience, confirmed market demand, and are ready to scale.

Specifically, these are the three tracks:

  • Builder Program — for early-stage teams with the possibility to receive up to $300,000 in funding per project for applicants who meet the requirements. Funds will be disbursed upon reaching agreed-upon milestones. The program is intended to support teams from the development stage in the testnet to attracting their first users;
  • Strategic Ecosystem Deals — for established protocols with confirmed TVL and an active user base. Support will be tailored individually for each project. It may include assistance with contract and liquidity migration, joint marketing, and direct collaboration with the Whitechain team;
  • Chain Expansion Support — for existing multi-chain protocols seeking access to an additional audience without leaving the networks they already operate in. Support will be structured around staged user base growth without exclusivity requirements, in accordance with specific agreement terms.

On August 18, Whitechain will open its public testnet, and begin accepting applications for funding and the migration track for Web3 teams. This applies to both early-stage developers and established protocols and multi-chain projects.

As the network progresses towards mainnet launch, Whitechain plans to introduce basic "Day 1 primitives." These will include a native DEX, an oracle, and a bridge.

"By launching within the established ecosystem of OP Stack tools and infrastructure, teams will be able to build their solutions from day one on proven wallets, indexers, and developer tools, without waiting for them to appear," the company summarized.

Michael Saylor, Founder of MicroStrategy, and CEO Phong Le Have Made Some Interesting Announcements! They Publicly Disclosed Their Bitcoin Price Forecast

During a Q&A session moderated by Natalie Brunell, Michael Saylor, founder of MicroStrategy, and CEO Phong Le discussed the company's strategy regarding its balance sheet, stock dynamics, and Bitcoin's role in the global financial ecosystem. Saylor described Bitcoin as the fundamental "capital asset" of the digital world, stating the company is building its future growth plans directly on this foundation. He argued that Bitcoin is not a traditional payment method or everyday currency, but digital capital, and that attracting capital from traditional finance is key to Bitcoin's growth. The company's digital credit instruments are designed to facilitate this capital inflow. CEO Phong Le addressed investor concerns about stock dilution and price volatility, asserting that capital raises and new instruments create shareholder value if they increase the amount of Bitcoin per share. He noted that a 50% drop in Bitcoin naturally leads to stock price fluctuations of up to 75%, emphasizing that MicroStrategy employs a long-term model of debt and equity financing, not short-term Bitcoin trading. The company also outlined its treasury management approach, stating it may dynamically buy BTC, repurchase credit instruments, or accumulate dollar reserves based on market conditions. Saylor reiterated his belief that Bitcoin could eventually reach $1 to $10 million as the company accumulates a larger share of its supply. He dismissed the idea of paying Bitcoin dividends as financially illogical, advocating instead for borrowing in low-cost, inflation-resistant fiat currencies (like dollars or yen) to invest in Bitcoin, which he views as the strongest appreciating asset. *This is not investment advice.

Will This Trigger Panic in the $1.8 Trillion Bitcoin Market? A Prominent CEO Voices Opinion, Urges Preparation!

Amid Bitcoin's recent sideways trend, rising global bond yields are capturing crypto investors' attention. Sean Farrell, Fundstrat's Head of Digital Asset Strategy, notes Bitcoin's current volatility is historically low, suggesting sharper price swings could occur in the coming months. Historically, after similar low-volatility periods, Bitcoin's price has experienced median absolute moves of around 30% over 60-day periods. A key market concern is the rapid surge in global bond yields, with US Treasury yields reaching multi-decade highs. Farrell attributes this to factors like the growing US budget deficit, high AI infrastructure investment, elevated oil prices, and monetary policy uncertainty. This bond market turbulence has sparked discussions about a potential "panic" scenario affecting roughly $1.8 trillion in the global financial system, which could trigger significant volatility in high-risk assets like Bitcoin. Analysts note the focus is shifting beyond just Fed rate cuts to factors like long-term yields, energy prices, inflation risks, and the global risk premium for pricing assets like Bitcoin. While no true panic is currently observed, markets are watching bond investors closely. Koinly CEO Robin Singh warns not to ignore the possibility of another sharp Bitcoin drop in coming months, suggesting it could fall to around $50,000 in a negative scenario. He indicates that if historical cycles repeat, investors may need to endure a final wave of panic selling before Bitcoin potentially bottoms in the current cycle.
