CME Group Targets $650 Billion Sports Industry with Launch of First Sports Index Futures

CME Group has announced a long-term partnership with Futuresports to launch the first futures contracts on sports performance indices, targeting the $650 billion global sports industry. These contracts will convert official league statistics into financial benchmarks, aiming to provide standardized hedging tools for risks such as team performance, player injuries, and fan engagement that affect broadcasters, sponsors, insurers, and apparel manufacturers.
