The leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, has experienced significant gains in recent days, rising above the $79,000 mark. While the reason for this rise and the question of its continuation remain speculative, an analytics company has suggested that BTC may have entered a consolidation phase.
According to data from the Hong Kong-based research firm Bitfire Research, after surpassing current levels, Bitcoin has entered a period of high consolidation.
The report analyzed how geopolitical risks, US long-term bond yields, and changes in cryptocurrency regulation collectively influenced Bitcoin's recent sharp rise.
Bitfire Research analysts stated that uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz has heightened concerns about energy prices and inflation, while a brief rise in the yield on US 30-year Treasury bonds to around 5.337% has exerted pressure on the market.
In the context of regulation, proposed SEC rules regarding crypto assets, the implementation of relevant CFTC policies, and future Clarity Act approval processes were identified as key factors. Analysts predict that removing regulatory uncertainty could boost investor confidence, including institutional confidence, as well as confidence in the tokenized financial products market.
Analysts concluded that the most important variable is capital flows, identifying them as the key factor determining the future direction of development.
At this stage, analysts noted that approximately $1.92 billion in capital flowed into US spot Bitcoin ETFs, and that the rally was also supported by large-scale liquidations of short positions.
According to the analytics company, whether capital inflows continue will determine if Bitcoin's recovery evolves into a sustained medium-term uptrend.
All Eyes on the Jackson Hole Meeting!
After a weekly gain of over 20%, the cryptocurrency market has begun trading sideways ahead of the Jackson Hole symposium. Bitcoin rose above $79,000, with its weekly gain exceeding 24%.
XRP performed best for the week, increasing by 50%. Ethereum rose 32%, Dogecoin rose 32%, and Solana rose 27% for the week.
Market attention is focused on Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh's first speech at Jackson Hole. As this is his first Jackson Hole address as Fed Chairman, the key question is whether he will signal a direction for interest rate changes.
Investors will closely monitor Warsh's statements regarding future interest rate policy. Amid ongoing inflationary pressure fueled by oil prices and high bond yields, expectations for an interest rate cut remain uncertain, and his remarks are anticipated to set a new direction for the cryptocurrency market.
