One of the earliest Bitcoin investors, who has been inactive in the cryptocurrency market for a long time, has reappeared publicly. According to data provided by the on-chain analytics platform Onchain Lens, a "whale" who accumulated a large amount of $BTC during the years when Bitcoin traded between $10 and $15, has made its first transfer in approximately 10 months.
According to the data, the investor transferred 50 $BTC, whose current market value is approximately $3.22 million, to a new wallet address. Following the transfer, market participants began speculating about the possible purpose of this move.
The analytics platform Onchain Lens noted that this transaction does not directly represent a sale but bears similarity to fund movements observed in wallets associated with the same large investor in the past. According to the analytics platform, the investor in question has previously transferred assets to new addresses in a similar manner, sending a portion of them to institutional crypto services such as FalconX or centralized cryptocurrency exchanges. Therefore, the latest transfer is viewed as a possible sign of preparation for an over-the-counter (OTC) sale.
Over-the-counter (OTC) trading is known as one of the methods that allows buying and selling large volumes of crypto assets on the open market without causing sharp price declines. Institutional investors and large players, especially in multimillion-dollar deals, often prefer this method to minimize price fluctuations.
However, experts emphasize that making definitive conclusions based on a single wallet movement is incorrect. Large investors may also move assets to different addresses for reasons such as security, updating storage strategies, or consolidating wallets. Therefore, it is argued that the transfer does not necessarily indicate preparation for a sale.
