- Whether the product locks $ETH for the entire staking period or uses a liquid model where the client can manage the value of their position while it continues to generate income.
- What the rewards consist of. Basic protocol payments to validators for proposing and confirming blocks currently play a more noticeable role compared to MEV — the additional yield arising from the order of transactions within a block.
- How predictable the yield is. Protocol rewards are directly tied to network issuance and appear more stable, whereas MEV income can vary significantly. A shift towards protocol payments makes the client's final yield more predictable.
- How asset custody is structured. Custodial solutions are often chosen due to regulatory requirements, but they don't automatically increase security. It's important for an advisor to understand what the client gains and loses compared to direct DeFi integration.
