Leading Abu Dhabi sovereign funds maintained their positions worth hundreds of millions of dollars in BlackRock's spot bitcoin ETF, iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), in the second quarter.
According to a Form 13F filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as of June 30, Mubadala Investment Company owned 14,721,917 shares of IBIT. The value of this position at the end of the quarter was approximately $490.1 million.
The size of Mubadala's assets in IBIT remained unchanged compared to the previous quarter. Investments in the Bitcoin ETF rank second in value among the assets listed in the fund's 13F report.
The largest position in Mubadala's investment portfolio consists of shares in GlobalFoundries, valued at approximately $32.9 billion.
On the other hand, another Abu Dhabi-based state investment organization, the Abu Dhabi Investment Council (ADIC), did not alter its investments in IBIT during the second quarter.
According to a 13F report filed by ADIC the day before, as of June 30, the company continued to own 8,218,712 shares of IBIT. The total value of these shares was reportedly approximately $273.6 million.
IBIT stands out as the undisputedly largest investment position in the ADIC portfolio reflected in the Form 13F.
Thus, the combined position of the two Abu Dhabi state investment companies in BlackRock's spot bitcoin ETF amounts to approximately 22.94 million shares of IBIT, or approximately $763.7 million US dollars at the stated value.
