Ils valident le concept central (le partage des risques génère des croyances précises), mais sont piégés dans un mauvais modèle économique et de mauvaises hypothèses structurelles. Ce qui arrive, c'est le « moment OpenAI » du domaine cognitif : un projet d'infrastructure à l'échelle de la civilisation, mais dont l'objectif n'est pas le raisonnement individuel, mais la croyance collective. Les entreprises de grands modèles de langage construisent des systèmes qui « raisonnent » à partir de données d'entraînement passées ; la finance cognitive vise à construire des systèmes qui « croient » – qui maintiennent des distributions de probabilité calibrées sur l'état du monde, mises à jour continuellement par des incitations économiques (et non par descente de gradient), et intégrant la connaissance humaine avec une granularité arbitraire. Les LLM codent le passé ; les marchés prédictifs agrègent les croyances sur le futur. Combinés, ils forment un système cognitif plus complet.

Pleinement étendue, cela évoluera vers une infrastructure : les systèmes d'IA peuvent l'interroger pour comprendre l'incertitude du monde ; les humains peuvent y contribuer des connaissances sans comprendre son mécanisme interne ; elle peut absorber des connaissances locales provenant de capteurs, d'experts domaines et de recherches de pointe, et les synthétiser en un modèle unifié. Un modèle prédictif du monde, auto-optimisé. Un substrat où l'incertitude elle-même peut être échangée, combinée. L'intelligence qui émergera finalement dépassera la somme de ses parties.
