Jointly overseen by both exchanges and calculated by CF Benchmarks, the NCI aims to provide institutional investors with a transparent, rules-based measure of the cryptocurrency market. It tracks a diversified basket of major coins rather than a single asset, reflecting traditional index management practices. The initiative is part of a broader collaboration between Nasdaq’s indexing expertise and CME’s trading platform, with a phased rollout beginning in late 2025 and continuing into January 2026.
