UKey Unveils the Seed Ring: Bringing Hardware Signing Into Everyday Life
UKey, a self-custody hardware brand, introduces the Seed Ring, a wearable NFC ring designed to securely store cryptocurrency recovery credentials. Unlike traditional hardware wallets that focus solely on signing security and rely on vulnerable paper backups, UKey separates the functions: signing happens on a dedicated device, while backup is handled by the Seed series. The Seed Ring is battery-free, drawing power only when tapped to an NFC-enabled phone, and is made from durable ceramic for daily wear. Crucially, it does not store the full seed phrase in plaintext, only the data needed for recovery, preventing exposure even if lost. This product launches the Seed series, which will later include a credit-card-sized Seed Card and a durable titanium Seed Ti. UKey's philosophy is to integrate secure crypto management into everyday life, moving beyond cold, utilitarian tools to wearable solutions that reduce the risk of losing assets due to poor seed phrase storage.
