1. What Is Somnia?

Somnia is a high-performance, EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain capable of processing more than 1,000,000 transactions per second (TPS) with sub-second finality, making it suitable for serving millions of users and building real-time consumer applications such as games, social platforms, and metaverse experiences.  Somnia is supported by Improbable and MSquared.

2. How Does Somnia Work?

Somnia's key features are as follows:

1) Innovative EVM Compiler: Somnia features an innovative EVM compiler that enables instruction-level parallel processing of EVM bytecode, helping to address performance bottlenecks in high-frequency and complex interaction scenarios.

2) IceDB Database Engine:  IceDB database engine independently developed by Somnia could significantly enhance data read/write speeds and the overall network stability.

3) MultiStream Consensus: The MultiStream Consensus algorithm records transactions across multiple data chains and orders them on a consensus chain. This design effectively mitigates MEV, reduces data redundancy, and improves efficiency while lowering costs.

4) Data Compression Techniques: With advanced data compression techniques, Somnia efficiently transmits data, further optimizing network performance.

3. Who Founded Somnia?

1) Paul Thomas: Founder of Somnia. Previously, he was the Vice President of Product Management at Improbable, a technology analyst at Goldman Sachs, and an early developer at Kinitron. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Imperial College London.

2) Sam Snyder: Senior Vice President of Research and Development.

3) Daigan Reid: Head of Community. He is the founder of Joy Tech and previously served as Chief Advisor at BlockTech Guild London, Community Lead at Vega Protocol, an intern on high-yield projects at Deutsche Bank, and has working experience at Microsoft. He graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

4. Somnia Tokenomics

Total supply of Somnia: 1 billion tokens. Token allocation is as follows:

Team: 11%, locked for 12 months, then unlocked over 48 months.

Launch Partners: 15%, locked for 12 months, then unlocked over 48 months.

Investors: 15.15%, locked for 12 months, then unlocked over 36 months.

Advisors: 3.58%, locked for 12 months, then unlocked over 36 months.

Ecosystem: 27.345%, with 5.075% released at TGE, and the remainder unlocked over 48 months.

Community: 27.925%, with 10.945% released at TGE, and the remainder unlocked over 36 months.

5. Token Utility

1) Staking: Validator staking: Tokens must be staked to operate validator nodes for the Somnia blockchain. Delegated staking: Users can delegate tokens to node providers to cover their staking costs.

2) Gas Fees: Gas fees for using the blockchain are paid in the native token SOMI.

3) Governance: The token is used to participate in governance and decision-making processes across the network and its components.​
