Robinhood's crypto trading volume rose 61% in August, but remained 38% below year-ago level

Robinhood's cryptocurrency trading volume reached $17.5 billion in August 2026, marking a 61% increase from July. However, this figure remained 38% below the level from August 2025. The company's monthly report detailed that $10.1 billion of the total volume came from the Bitstamp exchange, which it acquired in June 2025, while $7.4 billion came from the Robinhood app itself. Bitstamp's volume grew 53% month-over-month but fell 30% year-over-year. The Robinhood app's volume saw a 72% monthly increase but a 46% annual decline. In the second quarter of 2026, Bitstamp contributed $22 billion of Robinhood's total $40 billion crypto volume, with the app contributing $18 billion. Despite the monthly volume growth, Robinhood's transaction-based revenue from crypto fell 38% year-over-year in Q2 to $100 million. The decline was offset by growth in event contracts, options, and equities trading, leading to record quarterly revenue and profit for the broker. The report noted that trading volume on the Robinhood Chain was not included in these metrics.

Ethena launches USDe payments app, offers 6% rewards
