The village is located in the territory of the Khimki city district. Power engineers and police officers came to the site for an inspection, noticing an excessively high electricity consumption. In the garage, the inspectors found 11 mining devices, three of which were operating during the search.
The 44-year-old miner said he bought the equipment online in June of this year. The police initiated a criminal case on causing property damage through deception or abuse of trust under Part 1 of Article 165 of the Russian Criminal Code. The owner of the farm was not detained for the duration of the investigation but was ordered to appear before the investigator when summoned.
A complete ban on cryptocurrency mining has been in effect in Moscow and the Moscow region since August 15. The restriction applies both to private individuals who place equipment in apartments, garages, private homes, or dachas, and to industrial miners.
Earlier, in the city of Novorossiysk, on the territory of a transformer substation, power engineers discovered a crypto farm of 300 devices. Employees of the company "TNS energo Kuban" reported that the facility belonged to an entrepreneur who had ultimately accumulated an electricity debt of more than 77 million rubles.
