Abstract

Webull reported that cryptocurrency trading generated $2.25 million in revenue, accounting for just over 1% of its record-breaking $198 million total revenue for the second quarter of 2026. The platform's overall revenue grew by 51% year-over-year. Revenue from stock and options trading made up the majority, contributing $112 million or about 56% of the total. During an earnings call, Webull's President Anthony Michael Denier noted a positive outlook for the crypto business, stating that "the clouds are dissipating" for the first time in nine months. He added that the company is gradually rolling out crypto deposit and withdrawal features. The platform's quarterly revenue slightly exceeded Wall Street consensus estimates of $194.5 million. Following the announcement, Webull's stock price rose significantly. In contrast, competitor Robinhood reported record quarterly results in late July but saw its crypto transaction revenue decline by 38% to $100 million.

Webull reported on Wednesday that cryptocurrency trading generated $2.25 million — just over 1% of the platform's record $198 million revenue for the second quarter of 2026.

He added that the company is gradually implementing cryptocurrency deposit and withdrawal capabilities.

Online broker Robinhood also reported record quarterly results on July 30, although its crypto transaction revenue fell 38% — to $100 million from approximately $160 million a year earlier.

Cointelegraph has contacted Webull for more information on its cryptocurrency trading revenue compared to previous quarters.

The platform's quarterly revenue slightly exceeded Wall Street's consensus forecast of $194.5 million, according to analyst estimates published by Yahoo Finance. On Wednesday, Webull's stock price rose 8.9%, and in pre-market trading on Thursday, it gained nearly 15%, reaching $9.98 per share at 10:37 UTC.

After Riemann Hypothesis, Claude Shatters Another Century-Old Conjecture

After decades of steadfast belief in classical geometric conjectures, a significant breakthrough has arrived via artificial intelligence. In a collaborative effort, mathematician Levent Alpöge and Anthropic's Claude have constructed a counterexample that falsifies the century-old Carathéodory conjecture in differential geometry, while simultaneously disproving the related Loewner index conjecture. The Carathéodory conjecture, first formulated in 1924, posited that any sufficiently smooth, closed, and convex surface in three-dimensional Euclidean space must possess at least two umbilical points—points where the surface's curvature is the same in all directions, making it locally spherical. This assertion, intuitively supported by examples like spheres (with infinitely many) and ellipsoids (with two), had remained unproven and unchallenged for over 100 years. The parallel Loewner conjecture imposed a theoretical limit of 1 on the index of any isolated umbilical point. The pivotal counterexample is an explicit, mathematically rigorous construction of a convex body that is infinitely smooth (C∞) yet contains only a single umbilical point, directly contradicting Carathéodory's requirement of at least two. Furthermore, this solitary umbilical point possesses an index of 2, violating the Loewner conjecture's stipulated upper bound of 1. This achievement follows Alpöge's earlier use of Claude to propose a counterexample for the three-dimensional Jacobian conjecture, signaling a paradigm shift in mathematical research. AI is evolving from a mere computational tool into an "intuition amplifier," capable of exhaustive exploration and construction in domains where human intuition reaches its limits. This human-AI collaborative model is demonstrating its power to resolve—or dismantle—longstanding problems, marking a new era where the next fallen conjecture may only be a collaboration away.

Institutions Have Already Bought the Dip in Advance: Is Bitcoin at $70,000 the Start of a Bull Market Return or a Local High?

Title: "Institutions Have Already Bought the Dip: Is Bitcoin at $70K the Start of a New Bull Run or a Local High?" Summary: Bitcoin surged past $70,000 following positive remarks from former US President Donald Trump at a cryptocurrency industry gathering. While this has sparked retail investor interest, major financial institutions had already been accumulating Bitcoin exposure during Q2 2026, increasing their holdings by 7.5% even as the overall ETF market saw outflows. Key institutions like Jane Street, BlackRock, JPMorgan, and UBS significantly increased their positions in Bitcoin ETFs (notably BlackRock's IBIT) and related equities like MicroStrategy (MSTR) before the recent price surge. Market sentiment on the future trajectory is divided. Some analysts and executives, such as those from F2Pool, Strive, and Standard Chartered, argue the bear market is over, pointing to a favorable macro environment and targeting prices as high as $100,000 by year-end. Others, including CZ and analysts from CryptoQuant, VanEck, and Glassnode, remain cautious. They cite factors like high retail demand often coinciding with local tops, unconfirmed on-chain capitulation signals, and the market still operating within a four-year cycle, suggesting the recent breakout may be a rally within a broader corrective phase rather than a definitive trend reversal.

Institutions Have Already Bought the Dip: Is Bitcoin at $70,000 the Start of a Bull Run or a Local Top?

Institutional Investors Piled into Bitcoin Ahead of Rally: Is $70K a New Bull Market Start or Local Top? Bitcoin surged past $70,000 following pro-crypto remarks from former U.S. President Donald Trump on August 20. However, institutional investors had been accumulating exposure in Q2 2026, even as the price fell. 13F filings reveal that while total Bitcoin ETF holdings declined, institutional holdings increased by 7.5%, reaching a record 44.2% share of ETF assets. Key institutional moves include Jane Street increasing its Bitcoin ETF and MicroStrategy (MSTR) exposure by over $800 million, BlackRock adding ~$290 million in Bitcoin-related holdings (MSTR, its own IBIT ETF, and ASST), and JPMorgan boosting its IBIT position by $85.6 million. UBS significantly increased its call option exposure on IBIT. Notably, Paul Tudor Jones's fund reversed a multi-quarter selling trend to add IBIT shares. Market opinions are divided post-rally. The "bear market over" camp includes F2Pool's co-founder declaring the bear market ended, Strive's CEO citing a favorable macro backdrop for Bitcoin, and Standard Chartered targeting $100,000 by year-end. Conversely, the "not yet bottomed" camp includes CZ stating the super cycle hasn't arrived, CryptoQuant analysts warning of elevated retail demand often preceding local tops, and analysis from VanEck and Glassnode suggesting on-chain data shows a prolonged "capitulation phase" is still unfolding, indicating current price strength may be a relief rally rather than a definitive trend reversal.
