BlackRock, one of the world's largest asset management companies, has made a major purchase in the cryptocurrency market. According to On-Chain data provided by Onchain Lens, the company has acquired Bitcoin ($BTC) and Ethereum ($ETH) worth approximately $240 million. It is reported that the assets were transferred to wallets associated with BlackRock's cryptocurrency ETF products.
According to the data, BlackRock acquired a total of 2,802,904 $BTC and 6,580 $ETH. The total value of these crypto-assets is estimated to be around $240 million. Following the transactions, the assets were sent to wallets linked to BlackRock's spot cryptocurrency ETFs traded on the US market.
It was reported that the Bitcoin assets were transferred to wallets associated with the spot Bitcoin ETF IBIT, while the Ethereum transfers were sent to wallets linked to the staking-enabled ETFs ETHA and ETHB. These transfers have allowed institutional investors to more closely track their activities in the cryptocurrency market using blockchain data.
BlackRock's share in the crypto-asset market has increased significantly, especially after the commencement of trading of its spot ETFs in the US. The IBIT product stands out as one of the largest spot ETFs providing institutional investors with access to Bitcoin, while the Ethereum products facilitate investor access to the second-largest crypto-asset through traditional financial markets.
The recent purchase is seen as one of the signs of sustained institutional demand for Bitcoin and Ethereum. The inflow of capital into the market through ETF products is also closely monitored in terms of its impact on the price dynamics of crypto-assets.
The fact that the transactions recorded in blockchain data were conducted within the framework of BlackRock's ETF operations suggests that these trades may not represent speculative investments on the company's balance sheet. However, the scale of the acquired assets points to the growing share of institutional investors in the cryptocurrency market.
Market participants are closely watching BlackRock's upcoming moves regarding $BTC and $ETH, as well as the inflows into its ETFs.
