BlackRock Canada launched two exchange-traded funds on Monday, including a portfolio with globally diversified equities and a 3% allocation to Bitcoin.
The iShares Equity + Bitcoin ETF Portfolio (IBQT) and the iShares Core MSCI All-International Equity Index ETF (XINT) began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
IBQT allocates 97% of its portfolio to Canadian, U.S., international, and emerging market equities, while directing 3% to gain exposure to Bitcoin (BTC) through BlackRock's Canadian iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT), which trades on Cboe Canada. Instead of holding individual stocks, the fund primarily holds other iShares ETFs to gain access to equities and Bitcoin.
XINT tracks the MSCI ACWI ex North America IMI Index and provides access to over 5,000 companies across more than 40 developed and emerging markets outside Canada and the United States.
Both funds are managed by BlackRock Asset Management Canada under the RBC iShares alliance. As of June 30, the iShares division managed approximately $6.2 trillion in assets across more than 1,700 ETFs, BlackRock stated.
BlackRock's U.S.-listed iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) is the country's largest spot Bitcoin ETF by assets under management, with about $47.9 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.
