Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the entire cryptocurrency market are experiencing significant growth. The price of $BTC has surpassed $79,000, and $ETH — $2,400.
Against the backdrop of persistent bullish sentiment in the market, Arthur Hayes, the former CEO of BitMEX and a closely watched figure, has made new statements about $BTC and $ETH.
In a conversation with crypto journalist Laura Shin, Hayes revealed that his largest portfolio position, besides Bitcoin, is in Ethereum.
Hayes noted that although $ETH ranks second by market capitalization, it has not yet surpassed its 2021 peak, adding that the risk of Ethereum falling to zero is lower compared to other cryptocurrencies, making it more suitable for large-scale investments.
"...Currently, aside from Bitcoin, Ethereum holds the largest share in my portfolio. Compared to other cryptocurrencies, the risk of Ethereum's value falling to zero is significantly lower. I am investing a substantial portion of my money because it is attractive from the perspective of expected return and the risk-reward ratio."
Hayes pointed out that Ethereum's weak performance in the recent bullish cycle has left significant room for recovery for $ETH. He stated that if $ETH surpasses the $3,000 mark, its growth could accelerate, and it might quickly rise above $5,000.
"...Since Ethereum's growth in this cycle has been relatively limited, it still has significant potential for further upside."
It's Much Smarter to Consider Bitcoin as an ETF Alternative!
Hayes, also speaking about Bitcoin, said that for investors wishing to invest in $BTC through exchanges, it is better to buy spot ETFs than shares of MicroStrategy (MSTR).
Hayes stated that the MicroStrategy strategy made sense during a period when the market feared $BTC falling to $20,000, but its importance has diminished as liquidity expanded and the economic situation improved.
Hayes argued that if investors want to use an exchange to invest in $BTC, they can buy BlackRock's spot Bitcoin ETF IBIT or other ETFs, and there is no reason for them to buy MicroStrategy.
