From September 2018 to May 2019, an unknown investor accumulated 7,020.84 MKR (Maker)—the utility tokens of the decentralized MakerDAO platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. These tokens are used for voting on project development and maintaining the stability of the dollar-pegged stablecoin DAI.
The initial cost of the purchased MKR tokens was $5.81 million. After seven years of inactivity, the long-term holder transferred nearly half of the tokens, 3,510.42 MKR (currently worth $4.41 million), to a new address. According to calculations by EyeOnChain analysts, the investor's unrealized profit from these coins could be $1.51 million.
Ethereum OLD HOLDER just moved a massive $MKR position after 7 years. This whale, linked to the 2015 Ethereum ICO and known to hold around 40,000 $ETH, has finally moved part of an old MKR position after years of sitting untouched.

The transfer of MKR to a non-exchange address indicates that the large token holder does not necessarily intend to sell them and realize profits—sometimes it is merely a portfolio reorganization or a wallet change, including a move to cold storage.
Meanwhile, the price of MKR has dropped 21% in the last 24 hours to $1,232, with a market capitalization of $1.04 billion. The daily trading volume of the token has increased by 25% to $62,050. Currently, MKR is trading 80.5% below its all-time high of $6,339, reached five years ago in May 2021. As for Ether, the coin is attempting to break the $2,000 level, trading at $1,928. Ethereum's market capitalization currently stands at $232.5 billion.
In June, a large Ethereum holder from a dormant address since 2019 sold all of their 27,585 $ETH. The investor converted the proceeds into the stablecoin USDS—an updated version of the asset from the Sky ecosystem, formerly known as MakerDAO.
