On the morning of August 13, Bitcoin ($BTC) is trading around the $63.5k mark, continuing to remain within a narrow range of $60-66k since June. The price of Ethereum ($ETH) is fluctuating around $1.9k, trading within the $1.83-1.95k range for the second week. The exchange rates of both cryptocurrencies have remained almost unchanged over the past 24 hours.
In the catalogs of major online exchanger aggregators, offers to sell the TRC20 standard stablecoin $USDT for cash rubles or via the Faster Payments System (SBP) start at 86.1 rubles per 1 $USDT.
The total market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market is around $2.19 trillion. Among the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization over the past day, Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUALS) — the native token of a platform for creating and monetizing AI agents — showed the largest gain of 10%. During the same period, the token of the Audiera (BEAT) Web3 gaming platform depreciated the most, falling by 13%.
Regarding capital inflows into spot Bitcoin ($BTC) Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), the trading session on August 12 concluded with a capital outflow of over $60 million. Ethereum ($ETH) funds recorded an inflow of about $7 million.
The Crypto Fear & Greed Index stands at 29 points out of a possible 100. This is still the 'Fear' zone, practically bordering on 'Extreme Fear.' The market sentiment indicator remaining at these levels suggests that investors are still inclined to sell cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin News
The low volatility of recent weeks and the absence of significant capital inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs are accompanied by a decline in trading volumes. A Glassnode report indicated that the metric, expressed in the sum of bitcoins traded, has reached its lowest level since 2019.
According to Glassnode's assessment, due to the small number of buy orders, the high share of leveraged positions, and record-low trading volumes, Bitcoin's price may move towards the June low of around $58.5k.
Experts continue to consistently predict Bitcoin's growth in the long term. As noted by Zach Pandl, Head of Research at asset management company Grayscale, Bitcoin's price has stabilized and the market is "approaching the end of the last bear market."
In an analytical note, Pandl stated that Bitcoin's bear market has not changed Grayscale's expectations for growth. The company believes adoption will be driven by increased demand for scarce assets, broader adoption of blockchain technology, and a generational shift where younger people show greater investment interest in cryptocurrencies.
Potential threats from new artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have prompted dozens of crypto companies to approach developers of popular AI models to gain early access to their computing power.
The main problem, according to crypto companies, is that Bitcoin developers lack access to advanced AI models, which hampers vulnerability detection efforts. Among the organizations that have sought help from AI model developers are Coinbase, Block, BitGo, Blockstream, Anchorage Digital, ARK Invest, Bitwise, Foundry, Casa, Exodus, and dozens of others.
Cryptocurrency News
Expectations for Bitcoin's long-term growth extend to the entire cryptocurrency market. According to Matt Hougan, CEO of asset management firm Bitwise, the crypto market's capitalization could at least double in the future because protocols are increasingly using revenues for token buybacks and burns.
As examples of those directing revenue to token buybacks, he named Hyperliquid, Uniswap, Aave, Pump.fun, and Lighter, expecting decentralized finance (DeFi) projects to adopt similar mechanisms within the next 12–24 months.
Some trading firms are also showing interest in the altcoin market. For instance, one of the oldest market makers in the cryptocurrency market, GSR, has increased its portfolio allocation to Solana while reducing the weight of $ETH and $BTC to 43.6%, 39.5%, and 16.9% respectively.
Simultaneously, key players in the crypto market are showing interest in Ethereum staking. For example, asset management company Fidelity plans to add staking to its exchange-traded product based on 'ether' — the Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH). The organization plans to share part of the passive income with the fund's investors.
Interest in Ethereum staking is also evident in actual data — the inflow of new coins into staking has remained at the level of several billion dollars throughout 2026.
