Legacy sportsbooks are chasing prediction markets that already trade billions each month

DraftKings disclosed billions in new prediction market activity this week, which is impressive until you realize the market it's chasing collects more in monthly fees than most sportsbooks make in a quarter.
DraftKings said its Predictions business reached a $3.1 billion annualized trading run rate after launching in December 2025.

02The scale matters because prediction markets already trade far more than legal U.S. sportsbooks, and DraftKings shares rose on the news.

03The open question is whether DraftKings can catch established rivals before legal fights and liquidity keep widening the gap.

DraftKings told investors on June 9 that its prediction markets business is scaling fast, and the market liked what it saw. The company's Form 8-K reported that May 2026 annualized consumer volume in its Predictions offering rose 24% month over month to $1.3 billion, while annualized total volume traded climbed 34% to $3.1 billion. Shares of DraftKings jumped roughly 10% in early trading on the news.

Those figures are enormous for a product line that's barely six months old, since DraftKings only launched Predictions in December 2025. Seen against the broader category, though, they show a company that's arriving late to a market prediction-native platforms have already built into something far larger.

That $3.1 billion is an annualized run rate, which translates to roughly $258 million in actual volume in May. Kalshi, by comparison, processed $17.9 billion in May alone.

Monero Rally Fades As $400 Rejection Puts Bears Back In Control

Monero rose 16.6% on Jun. 11, then briefly reached $426 during Friday trading.

The move followed large Monero orders after a $120.2 million Tether(USDT) deposit to a Tron(TRX) address.

Analysts said the short-term structure remains bearish unless XMR can move beyond $437.

Monero jumped on Jun. 11 after gaining 13.3% over the previous three days, with the move carrying the privacy coin to $390, according to market data cited in the report.

The rally extended during Friday trading, when XMR reached a local high of $426, but the move faded quickly and the token closed the day at $353. That weakness continued afterward, leaving XMR near $347 at the time of writing.

The report said the price spike followed activity flagged by ZachXBT on Telegram, after an entity created Monero orders following a $120.2 million USDT deposit to a Tron address.
