EthereumPoW (ETHW) is a proof-of-work (PoW)-based Ethereum fork created by a group of independent community developers. The hard fork followed Ethereum’s milestone transition from PoW to proof-of-stake (PoS) in September 2022 via The Merge. The shift to PoS aimed to reduce Ethereum's energy consumption by eliminating mining, which relies on computational power for transaction validation. To address concerns around the future profitability of miners, EthereumPoW was introduced to preserve the original Ethereum PoW mechanism and its mining-based ecosystem.
