Ionic Digital, Celsius's Mining Successor, Debuts on Nasdaq with a 25% Rise
Ionic Digital, a company created in 2024 to acquire the bitcoin mining assets of bankrupt crypto lender Celsius Network, debuted on Nasdaq on July 28, 2026, under the ticker IOND. Its shares started trading at $50 and closed at $62.9, marking a 25.8% gain. The direct listing gave an initial valuation of approximately $2.25 billion.
Formed as part of Celsius's court-approved restructuring plan, Ionic issued about 37 million Class A shares to Celsius creditors. The company acquired significant assets, including mining hardware (ASICs), real estate, cash, and 540 BTC. Initially managed by Hut 8, Ionic now operates independently.
Its core business includes operating a flagship 234 MW facility in Ward County, Texas, leased to hyper scaler Nscale under a long-term contract expected to generate up to $2 billion in revenue. Ionic also continues crypto mining operations across four sites in Midland, Texas, holding 2,861 BTC on its balance sheet. The move reflects a broader industry trend of mining companies diversifying into high-performance computing for sectors like AI.
