Bob Loukas Calls Bitcoin 'Horrendous' on Weekly Chart, Sets $49,000 Target

A popular trader with more than 30 years of experience in financial markets and author of the 60-day cycle theory for $BTC, Bob Loukas, released on Monday another outlook of Bitcoin’s price. Unlike the optimistic charts, analyses and predictions that flooded the crypto space after the weekend, his outlook can hardly be called bullish.

As Loukas writes in the caption to his outlook, despite deep oversold conditions, Bitcoin on the weekly chart "remains horrendous" and from a purely visual perspective, according to the trader, it feels as if it is "hanging by a thread" and preparing another large leg down. He also marked his price target for the leading cryptocurrency at around $49,000 per $BTC.

Ripple's $XRP unlock on March 1 meets a struggling market as February ends with a 16% drop for the price of the cryptocurrency.

Escrow. Ripple Labs unlocked 1 billion $XRP from its escrow accounts, worth approximately $1.377 billion.

Ripple unlocked another 1 billion tokens this morning from its $XRP escrow account. As reported by Whale Alert, the release of 1 billion $XRP, equivalent to more than $1.377 billion, occurred in three tranches: 200, 300 and 500 million $XRP were unlocked step by step from the San Francisco-based blockchain company’s escrow accounts.

According to XRPL Services, the company currently continues to hold around 32.91 billion $XRP. This accounts for approximately 32% of the token’s total supply and, at current prices, is equivalent to more than $45.3 billion.

As is known, the unlocking takes place to boost liquidity, manage the market and support the gradual release of $XRP from the wallets.

$XRP price down 16%. $XRP price reaction was minimal, rising just 0.9% from the day’s open following the release.

For $XRP itself, at the time of release the price showed almost no reaction, with only a 0.9% increase from the day’s opening. In this context, the February figures, which have just closed, are more interesting as the month ended with $XRP down 16.45%. At the peak of February’s decline, the drop reached 33%.

He further went on to mention, urging the Revolutionary Guard and the Iranian military police to lay down their arms and get complete or face certain death. Experts have advised that if the strikes continue, the crash would be worse, potentially reversing the crypto market recovery over the weekend.

JPMorgan says crypto market structure bill could be approved by mid-year and serve as positive catalyst in second half JPMorgan analysts said U.S. crypto market structure legislation could be approved by mid-year and may become a positive catalyst for markets in the second half of the year.

"If passed it will reshape market structure by providing regulatory clarity, ending 'regulation by enforcement,' promoting tokenization, and facilitating greater institutional participation," they added.

Even as crypto sentiment remains weak, JPMorgan analysts see a possible mid-year approval of U.S. market structure legislation as a supportive factor for markets in the second half.

"While sentiment remains negative in crypto markets, we continue to believe that a potential approval of the market structure legislation most likely by mid year could serve as a positive catalyst for crypto markets into the second half of the year," JPMorgan analysts led by managing director Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou said in a report.

The proposed market structure bill, widely referred to as the CLARITY Act, is designed to create a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets in the U.S. The House has already advanced the legislation, while discussions continue in the Senate.

According to the reports, more than $529 million was traded on the Polymarket contracts related to the timing of the strikes. Kalshi’s market is asking whether Khamenei has generated over $50 million in trading volume.

Six Democratic senators have urged the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to ban prediction contracts that are linked to or correlate with a person’s death. In a letter to CFTC Chairman Michael Selig, the senators argued that such markets pose a serious ethical and national security risk.

Tarek Mansour, Kalshi CEO, defended the platform, stating that Kalshi does not list contracts directly tied to death and designs rules to prevent users from profiting from someone’s death. However, confusion emerged over how the Khamenei contract was settled. Under Kalshi’s official rules filed with the CFTC, which are to be settled at the last traded price before Khamenei’s death.

Kalshi later admitted the wording was unclear. The company announced it would refund all the trading fees from the market and fully reimburse traders who placed bets after Khamenei’s death.

Polymarket, which operates outside U.S. regulations and only requires a crypto wallet to trade. Blockchain analytics firm Bubblemaos reported that six newly created accounts made about $1 million in profit by correctly betting on the strike date. Some of these bets were placed just hours before the attack occurred. This debate highlights how prediction markets should be regulated. Kalshi operates under U.S. oversight by the CFTC, while Polymarket operates offshore with fewer restrictions.
