ByteDance Continues to Narrow Business Focus on AI

On June 23, ByteDance CEO Liang Rubo stated that in recent years, the company has been continuously narrowing its business scope, concentrating its efforts on the field of artificial intelligence (AI), and further focusing on enhancing model capabilities within AI. At the Volcano Engine Force Conference, Liang claimed that the impact of AI is at least comparable to the three major IT revolutions of PC, Web, and Mobile, with corporate attention shifting from 'whether to do AI' to 'how to do AI.' Volcano Engine is ByteDance's cloud and AI service platform. He revealed that the company has set 'Dare to Scale New Heights' as its annual keyword, with the goal of reaching the pinnacle of the AI era and enhancing large model technical capabilities as its most important task at present. The primary measure to achieve this goal is focus. In recent years, ByteDance has consistently concentrated its efforts on the AI field and further focused on enhancing model capabilities within AI. Under this strategy, the Volcano Engine MaaS business has risen to become ByteDance's core business, and the company will make long-term and firm investments in this area. In addition to focus, Liang pointed out that the upcoming new version of the Seedance video generation model will feature the industry's first 3D white model preview function, inspired by a suggestion from a well-known director, reflecting the practice of climbing the AI peak together.
