1. Project Introduction
Compound is a decentralized protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain that enables users to lend and borrow crypto assets. By interacting with smart contracts, users can automatically earn or pay floating interest rates without needing to negotiate terms. These rates are algorithmically determined based on supply and demand.
Compound was also the first protocol to introduce a governance token, COMP. Holders can participate in governance by proposing and voting on changes to the protocol, ensuring community-led development and decentralized decision-making.
