Launched in January 2024, Pump.fun is a platform dedicated to fair launches of Solana meme coins. The platform allows token issuers to create and launch entirely new crypto assets themed on various memes in a convenient, flexible and free manner. Meme coins cover broad themes, ranging from politics, animals, popular cartoon characters to viral internet memes, etc.

The core “fair launch” mechanism of Pump.fun takes technical measures to prevent token issuers from reserving tokens or engaging in other fraudulent behavior, thereby effectively reducing common risks like “rug pulls". The platform uses a bonding curve pricing model that gives significant advantages to early participants: the earlier one buys, the lower the cost, creating an investment environment that rewards early discoverers.

Once a token has matured and its market capitalization reaches $69,000, it automatically migrates to the Solana decentralized exchange Raydium, gaining deeper liquidity and broader trading exposure. The platform was initially built on the Solana blockchain and has since successfully expanded to multiple chains including Blast and Base.
