1. What Is Sylo?

The Sylo Network is a decentralized data layer designed for seamless digital ownership and interoperability in the open metaverse. It delivers the foundational infrastructure that enables portable, verifiable, and permissioned assets and agents across games, engines, and experiences.

At its core are Sylos – decentralized nodes layered with programmable protocols that govern how data is stored, discovered, and used. Live tools and games already leverage Sylo standards like the Asset Register, enabling dynamic asset behavior and persistent metadata. With Sylo, data isn’t static – it’s functional.

The $SYLO token powers the network. It's used to register assets, define access controls, verify authenticity, and access content stored in Sylos. Developers integrate using $SYLO; contributors earn by staking and running nodes. As adoption grows, $SYLO will anchor Sylo’s Layer 2 chain – cementing its role in powering interoperable metadata across the metaverse. 

2. How Does Sylo Work?
Sylo bridges Web2's efficient cloud infrastructure and scalability with Web3's ownership and portability, creating a shared data layer accessible by experiences and agents alike. At its core, the Sylo Network comprises four interlocking components:
Sylos: Storage nodes that anyone can run, empowering data owners to choose where their data resides. Data owners can flexibly self-host their own data or entrust it to a third-party Sylo.
Sylo Protocols: The rules and tools that ensure data can be interoperable across the metaverse. These handle discoverability (locating data), permissions (who can access or modify what data), and usage pricing (what access costs).
Sylo Spaces: Modular web experiences for brands and projects. A Space blends plugins like social feeds, chat, asset pages, and wallets.
Sylo Token ($SYLO): The utility token fueling the system. $SYLO powers protocol interactions as gas, facilitates data access payments for both assets and agents, and incentivizes contributors through staking, tying the network's economy together.

3. Who Founded Sylo?
Aaron McDonald, founder of Futureverse, co-founder of Jen Music AI, and General Partner at NetX Fund. Sylo is a project under Futureverse Corporation Limited.
In July 2023, Futureverse raised $54 million in a Series A funding round led by 10T Holdings with participation from Ripple Labs and others. Futureverse was formed out of 11 different firms. It formed out of the merger of eight companies in late 2022, with three more assimilated subsequently.

4. Token Utility
The Sylo Token ($SYLO) serves as the utility token of the Sylo Network, enabling the decentralized data layer for the open metaverse. $SYLO facilitates interactions, rewards contributors, and ensures interoperability among creators, developers, hosts, and network supporters. $SYLO operates through two primary mechanisms: transactional spending and staking for network support.

5. Timeline of Key Milestones
Pricing Sylo: Released. A dedicated Sylo providing up-to-date pricing for tokens on The Root Network. This enables real-time market data access for dApps, experiences and agents.
Data Verification Protocol: Released. A protocol ensuring the authenticity of data stored in Sylos.
Profile Sylo: Released. A Sylo housing user profile data. This creates a portable, user-owned profile layer, enhancing personalization and social features in metaverse experiences.
Sylo Graph: To be launched in Q2/Q3 2025. Release users interoperable social graph, enabling users to bring their social circles with them as they move across the open metaverse.
The Silo Network plans to subsequently transition asset register to Layer 2 architecture, port registration protocols to a Layer 2 blockchain, and launch network governance.​
