Ethereum Developers to Shortlist 66 Proposals for Hegotá Upgrade
Ethereum developers are currently reviewing 66 proposals to finalize the feature set for the network's next major upgrade, codenamed "Hegotá," slated for next year. The selection process aims to streamline the list, with several proposals focusing on enhancing the protocol's privacy capabilities.
The sole Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) currently planned for inclusion is FOCIL (Fork-choice enforced inclusion lists), designed to improve censorship resistance by allowing a validator committee to force pending transactions into blocks. Other key contenders for Hegotá are Frame Transactions (EIP-8141), Keyed Nonces (EIP-8250), and Recent Roots for Frame Transactions (EIP-8272). These initiatives are seen as critical for enabling native privacy, allowing privacy-preserving applications to operate without intermediaries.
While Hegotá's planning progresses, developers are preparing to release the "Glamsterdam" upgrade later this year, a significant update aimed at improving scalability, security, and usability. The upcoming developer meetings will be crucial in determining Ethereum's development path for 2027. Proposals not selected for Hegotá may be reconsidered for future network upgrades.
