The Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kash Patel, reported the results of Operation Blackout, aimed at combating global investment fraud networks. According to him, as part of the campaign, law enforcement seized crypto assets worth over $15 billion, liquidated dozens of fraudulent centers, and shut down hundreds of fake investment platforms.
According to the FBI Director, the operation was launched under the leadership of US President Donald Trump. Patel stated that during the investigation, law enforcement:
- seized cryptocurrencies worth over $15 billion;
- liquidated dozens of fraudulent complexes;
- arrested hundreds of individuals;
- rescued thousands of human trafficking victims;
- shut down over 500 fraudulent investment websites;
- disabled millions of accounts linked to fraud;
- warned over 10,000 Americans before they lost funds, which, according to FBI estimates, prevented losses exceeding $500 million.
"We are no longer just pursuing fraudsters. We are destroying the networks that profit from them," Patel stated.
At the same time, the FBI Director did not provide additional details regarding the mechanism for valuing the seized crypto assets or the period over which the reported results were achieved.
Statement Sparks Active Discussion
Patel's post sparked mixed reactions from users.
Some commenters praised the operation's results. In particular, user RRzec17 thanked the FBI Director for fighting criminal schemes and emphasized that behind the statistics are affected families.
Others urged the Bureau to shift its priorities. User dems_arepedos stated that the FBI should first and foremost focus on combating internal threats to the country.
Criticism was also directed at the US administration. User HulloXworld accused the authorities of hypocrisy, while johanna_ju8572 shared that her stepfather fell victim to financial fraud and lost a significant sum due to an investment scheme.
Recall that in May 2026, the FBI announced the largest-ever seizure of crypto assets worth $8 billion as part of Operation Blackout. At that time, the central figure in the investigation was Chen Zhi — the CEO of the Cambodian company Prince Holding Group. For more details — see the article.
