BTC Approaches Key Resistance Wall at $82K
Bitcoin fell to $77.7K over the weekend before rebounding strongly, rallying to $81,280 and encountering resistance after testing the 50-week moving average again today. Currently, the market is most focused on whether it can sustainably hold above this moving average on a weekly basis.
The 50-week moving average is currently around $81,000. Well-known KOL DeFi Dad stated that this line is often seen as the "bull market support line," a simple indicator for determining if BTC is re-entering a bull market; if BTC can clearly hold above this level in the coming weeks, it will be a very important signal. Meanwhile, Colin Talks Crypto pointed out that BTC has not yet formed a higher high structurally and still needs confirmation. If a higher high emerges subsequently, the probability that the cycle low is already in will increase significantly; however, if the first major rally tops out and pulls back, the historical median pullback is about 18.1% (between 17.5%–21.1%). A pullback from $81,200 could see the price drop to around $66,500—a level that perfectly coincides with the neckline of a potential head-and-shoulders bottom pattern.
Regarding the short-term trend, renowned analyst Ash Crypto believes BTC overall maintains a bullish structure with both highs and lows rising, and traders are closely watching key support and resistance levels. Current local support for BTC is at $77,800-$78,000, with stronger support at $75,500-$76,000. The core resistance above is $81,270 (where the 50-week moving average lies). The market has two short-term paths: if it holds $78,000 and breaks the downtrend line, the next target will be $83,000; if it breaks below $78,000, it will test $76,000 before Friday. With the Jackson Hole meeting approaching, this consolidation range won't last much longer.

Besides the technical pressure from the 50-week moving average, structural factors in the derivatives market are also increasing the difficulty of breaching the $81K-$82K level. On-chain and options data show that a profit-taking and break-even wall of nearly 975,000 BTC is accumulated between $83,307 and $84,569. Simultaneously, over $3.6 billion in derivatives "negative gamma" exposure is concentrated above $82,000, forcing market makers to sell to hedge as the price approaches $82,000. Today's $6.44 billion Bitcoin options expiry concentrated on Deribit will be key to unlocking this stalemate. With 30-day call option prices universally higher than puts, the suppressing gamma locked in by the expiry may be released. If Bitcoin breaks above $82,000 with volume and holds the 50-week moving average, market makers' hedging buy orders could accelerate a price surge towards $85,000 and even $100,000; conversely, failure to break through could trigger a historically significant deep pullback.

Stock Index Futures Volatile, Overnight Session Begins Nitpicking

U.S. stock index futures were slightly volatile: Dow futures up 0.14%, Nasdaq 100 futures down 0.28%, S&P 500 futures down 0.08%. After Nvidia's earnings ignited the AI rally, the market awaits Jackson Hole speeches, with sentiment shifting from excitement to caution.

BIT overnight data shows profit-taking in the AI sector: Nvidia down 0.54%, Micron Technology down 2.03%, Marvell Technology down 8.80%, SanDisk down 2.42%, Intel down 1.60%, SK Hynix down 1.63%.
-
PayPal overnight down 14.17%, reportedly due to Stripe and Advent abandoning acquisition plans.
-
IREN overnight down 8.54%. While the company disclosed strong AI cloud contract momentum, its FY27 capex target of $25-30 billion raised market concerns about cash burn pressure.
-
Marvell Technology down 8.8% post-earnings, despite beating expectations, its substantial year-to-date gains have left the market with little tolerance for error.
Nvidia Holds Up the Market, Fed Remains a Wild Card

Last night witnessed a classic "AI single-handedly saves the market" play on Wall Street. Nvidia single-handedly shattered the pessimistic narrative of peak AI capex, driving the Nasdaq up 1.57%. Nvidia's Q2 revenue reached $96.22 billion, with Q3 guidance far exceeding expectations. Its market cap surged approximately $442 billion in a day, marking the second-largest single-day gain for a stock ever. Both Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan believe the guidance is conservative, with supply constraints being the real bottleneck.
Although "Big Short" Michael Burry bought Nvidia call options yesterday, he clarified this was purely to hedge his massive short exposure, not a bullish bet. Burry still warns of risks like self-funding cycles and overestimated demand in AI infrastructure investment, with his short stock positions exceeding 21% of his portfolio.
Meanwhile, the software sector staged a "SaaS resurrection night": Salesforce up 22.58%, Okta up 28.63% hitting a four-year high, CrowdStrike up 20.50% marking its best single-day performance since IPO, Synopsys up 13.39%. Goldman Sachs bluntly stated "software isn't dead," with AI becoming a new tool for price increases and security budget expansion. CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz called protecting AI the biggest market opportunity in history.
On the macro front, market focus shifts to Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's first keynote speech at Jackson Hole tonight at 22:00. If Warsh sounds hawkish, Treasury yields and the USD could rise further, pressuring high-valuation tech stocks and Bitcoin. If he merely emphasizes inflation control without strong rate hike signals, the market may continue trading the risk asset rebound.

Crypto-related stocks surged collectively. BIT U.S. Stocks data shows: MicroStrategy up 11.54%, hitting a new high since June 2; Coinbase up 4.92%, buoyed by recovering trading volumes, ETF inflows, and a positive Coinbase premium improving exchange revenue expectations; Robinhood up 1.12%, supported by renewed crypto trading activity for its order flow and crypto business; Circle up 4.82%.
Mining stocks performed even stronger: MARA up 5.79%, CleanSpark up 6.32%, Bitdeer up 6.19%, Cipher Mining up 4.68%, Terawulf up 3.26%, Hut 8 up 2.51%, Riot Platforms up 1.31%, American Bitcoin up 7.09%, Canaan up 11.25%. BlocksBridge noted that Bitcoin's ~23% gain over the past week propelled previously pressured miners like Canaan, American Bitcoin, and Cango up 41%-67%, even outperforming some AI infrastructure stocks.
Japan Stronger, Korea Under Pressure; A-Shares Agriculture Gains
Asia-Pacific market sentiment turned cautious ahead of Jackson Hole. Nikkei 225 closed up 0.41%, while South Korea's KOSPI fell 1.79%.
The core variables for Japan remain inflation and the yen. Japan's July unemployment rate fell to 2.4%, below the expected 2.5%; Tokyo core inflation was largely in line, leading markets to continue betting on potential further Bank of Japan tightening. Concurrently, the tail in Japan's 2-year bond auction hit its widest since 2016, indicating rising bond market sensitivity to policy normalization.
South Korea faces profit-taking in semiconductor heavyweights following the Bank of Korea's surprise rate hike and AI theme cooling: SK Hynix down 3.87%, Samsung Electronics down 2.81%. SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-Jung stated memory chip supply tightness is expected to last until late 2030, but the market's short-term focus is on profit-taking.
In A-shares, the ChiNext Index gave up gains to close down 1.41%. Agriculture stocks surged against the trend, with Dunhuang Seed, Xinsai Co., Wanxiang Doneed among others hitting limit-up. The chemical sector rallied, with Jinniu Chemical, Chitianhua, Lutianhua hitting limit-up. Innovative drug and CRO concepts fell, with Wanbang Pharma, CanSino Biologics down over 10%. Semiconductor and computing hardware stocks also retreated with the broader Asia-Pacific tech sector. China's National Development and Reform Commission emphasized the need for all-chain efforts to achieve decisive breakthroughs in core integrated circuit technologies, while cautioning that the robotics industry must adapt to local conditions and avoid blind following and herd behavior, sending a mixed policy signal of "support and cooling" for thematic investments.
