В сентябре 2021 года биткоин стал законным платежным средством в Сальвадоре. С этого момента прошло три года и 39-летний Наполеон Осорио поделился с журналистами историей о том, как приход первой криптовалюты в страну повлиял на его судьбу.

По словам предпринимателя, в тот период он находился в тяжелом финансовом положении и с трудом оплачивал счета по коммунальным услугам. Мужчина подрабатывал водителем такси и однажды подвозил соучредителя неправительственной организации My First Bitcoin Джона Деннехи.

Именно тогда пассажир посоветовал ему начать принимать оплату в биткоинах, утверждает Осорио. Идея показалась интересной, и он создал стартап под названием Bit-Driver.

Компания предоставляет услуги по транспортировке с расчетом в первой криптовалюте. Заказать машину можно через мобильное приложение или по телефону. Пользователям также предлагают взять авто в аренду, оплатив услугу в биткоинах.

За несколько лет бизнес Осорио успел разрастись и теперь на него работает 21 водитель, заявляет предприниматель. По его словам, доходы от проекта позволили купить ему несколько машин, а также полностью оплатить обучение своих детей.

«Раньше я фактически был безработным, а теперь у меня есть собственный бизнес», — заявил предприниматель.

Однако президент Сальвадора Найиб Букеле считает, что принятие биткоина в качестве официальной валюты не оправдало ожиданий.
