Binance Applies for MiCA Licence in Greece Ahead of EU Deadline
Binance has applied for a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) license in Greece, working with the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) ahead of the EU's regulatory deadline. A spokesperson stated the exchange views MiCA as a significant milestone for regulatory clarity and user protection. This move comes as regulators, including France's AMF, warn that the MiCA transition period ends on June 30, 2025, pressuring non-compliant firms to cease operations. Data shows Greece has not yet issued any MiCA licenses, while Germany and the Netherlands lead in approvals. Binance, the world's largest centralized exchange by trading volume, has faced increased scrutiny from European regulators.
