According to Galaxy, Bitcoin's dormant coin movement has dropped to its lowest level since 2022
According to Galaxy Digital research head Alex Thorn, the movement of long-dormant Bitcoin, or "spent outputs," has fallen to its lowest level since Q3 2022. This indicates a significant decline in selling pressure from long-term holders, many of whom likely realized profits during the 2024 and 2025 rallies. The data shows a recurring pattern where old coins are reactivated and sold during major bull markets, with distribution peaking in late 2025. Currently, this flow has dried up. Bitcoin's price, which hit an all-time high above $126,000 in October 2025, has since fallen roughly 48%, trading around $64,800. Thorn dismissed theories that large investors are selling due to quantum computing risks, stating that such concerns more often deter new buyers rather than prompt current holders to sell.
