According to Lawtimes, the Financial Services Commission of South Korea is investigating whether virtual assets issued by P2E (Play to Earn) game operators have the characteristics of securities. Recently, a complaint was filed with the Financial Services Commission that the virtual asset 'Wemix' issued by WeMade was in fact a security and violated the obligations under the Capital Market Act. The FSC is reviewing with the Financial Supervisory Service whether Wemix falls under securities. Amid the consensus of the ruling party that virtual assets should be regulated by dividing them into securities and non-security types, lawyers working in the fields of virtual assets and NFTs believe that this case will become a watershed in the nature of digital assets.
