Chainalysis is expanding its toolkit for cryptocurrency investigations with a new class of tools dubbed blockchain intelligence agents. In a blog post, co-founder and CEO Jonathan Levin emphasized that the initial emphasis reflects where bad actors are most likely to abuse AI and where institutions can gain the most impact: investigations and regulatory compliance. “As bad actors increasingly leverage AI to scale their operations, it’s critical that those working to stop them do the same,” he wrote.

collaboration between both companies spans

more than six years and covers multiple versions

of the protocol. For Aave V4, Certora joined the

development process more than a year before

launch, integrating security directly into the system

architecture from the initial design stages. The

work included continuous formal verification,

adversarial testing and manual audits carried

out by researchers with experience in lending

protocols, oracle systems and governance

mechanics. In concrete terms, the Certora team

reviewed 169 smart contracts, analyzed more than

51,000 lines of code, generated more than 800

formal verification rules and prevented 28 critical

vulnerabilities before deployment. Additionally,

during an external security contest with

independent researchers, no critical or high-impact

vulnerabilities were identified. "Security can no

longer depend on one-off audits," said Mooly

Sagiv, founder and chief scientist at Certora.

In 2025 alone, the firm actively contributed to

protecting $196.5 billion in total value locked

across DeFi protocols and prevented more than

720 vulnerabilities before they reached production.
