One day later, BlackRock, Fidelity Digital Assets and seven other firms launched a separate initiative backed by $15 million in member pledges for Bitcoin security research and open-source development.

The timing creates a broader institutional story, although the two signals require different interpretations. ETF flows measure investor demand over days. Security funding addresses technical risks that may take years to resolve. Together, they show that Bitcoin’s institutional layer is expanding beyond market access into maintenance of the network on which that access depends.

They do not, however, confirm a durable market recovery. The inflow streak ended on July 23, and the new consortium has not disclosed individual contributions, initial recipients or how much of the pledged funding is new.
