Financial giant Franklin Templeton, a subsidiary of Franklin Resources Inc. (NYSE: BEN), announced its endorsement of the CLARITY Act on July 27 after reporting $1.79 trillion in assets under management as of June 30.

The firm indicated that the CLARITY Act would establish clearer rules for digital assets, helping investors better understand the protections available to them while giving companies greater certainty over which federal regulators oversee their operations. Franklin Templeton added that the legislation would provide the regulatory clarity the crypto industry has long sought.

The 37% surge in Shiba Inu (SHIB) over two days ultimately ended in a typical pump-and-dump scenario: large investors cashed out entirely, selling tokens to retail investors who entered the market later. Santiment analysts' latest on-chain data shows how whales used this market frenzy to lock in profits, causing losses for retail investors. How did the retail investors' "fear of missing out" provide an exit channel for whales? After the SHIB price began to climb, the retail investors' "fear of missing out" spread rapidly on social media. Shiba Inu's social dominance index surged to 0.084%, the highest level since April. Ordinary traders flocked to buy the token, but as is often the case, their attention peaked just as the rally was about to end. These people entered the market at the price's highest point.

Meanwhile, large holders began selling off their tokens and cashing out. Within 24 hours, the network recorded 52 whale trades, each exceeding $100,000 – the highest number since late March.

The influx of retail buyers onto this "train about to depart" created ideal conditions for large holders, allowing them to convert their token holdings into cash without immediately crashing their order books. Large funds gained the liquidity they needed, while small traders gained nothing.

According to a new Bloomberg report, at least a dozen digital-asset treasury (DAT) firms have shifted into Al-related ventures in recent months as token prices and their own valuations declined. Early results have been bleak.

K Wave Media, once focused on accumulating bitcoin, has fallen 71% since turning toward data center development in May. Lixte Biotechnology has lost 33% since agreeing to merge with a battery company in June. Alphaton Capital, previously a holder of alternative cryptocurrencies, is down 33% since rebranding as Alpha Compute in April. Industry observers reckon that most digital-asset treasury firms are either moving into Al or dying a slow death.

Crypto Treasury Premiums Disappear

Digital-asset treasury companies raised capital and issued stock to buy cryptocurrencies, hoping their shares would trade at a premium to the value of those holdings.
