Cardano Van Rossum Hard Fork: What ADA Users Need to Know About Version 11
Cardano activated the Van Rossum Hard Fork and upgraded its mainnet to Version 11, introducing improvements to Plutus smart contracts while keeping the user experience unchanged for $ADA holders.

The upgrade became the first protocol change fully approved through Cardano’s on-chain governance, with Delegated Representatives, the Constitutional Committee, and stake pool operators voting under the Voltaire framework.

Version 11 prepares Cardano for the future Ouroboros Leios scalability upgrade, which aims to increase network throughput while preserving the security of its proof-of-stake consensus.

Cardano Van Rossum Hard Fork officially moved the network to Version 11, marking one of the most significant governance milestones since the blockchain launched. While the technical improvements focus on developer tools and smart contract efficiency, the upgrade also proves that Cardano’s decentralized governance system can approve protocol changes without relying on its original development company.

Cardano Van Rossum Hard Fork Brings Governance Into Practice

The network transitioned from Version 10 to Version 11 during epoch 644, after the activation took place on July 18. Before the upgrade, Cardano’s governance process completed every required approval under the Voltaire framework, making this the first hard fork entirely initiated, debated, ratified, and executed through on-chain voting.

Delegated Representatives supported the proposal with nearly 79% approval, comfortably above the required threshold. The Constitutional Committee unanimously confirmed that the proposal complied with Cardano’s constitution, while stake pool operators also voted in favor. Network telemetry showed that roughly 93% of active block production already operated compatible software before activation, exceeding the participation requirement.

While details about the intent of the transaction were scant per Whale Alert's reporting, on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain reported a similar move, which might provide further detailsLookonchain reported that a whale received 557,902 HYPE from FalconX and deposited it into Hyperliquid for staking. Going by this, the reason why the 557,902 HYPE might have been moved to the HyperCore platform was to stake it.

This follows an increase in staking activity by whales or large holders. On July 24, Lookonchain reported a whale who staked 2.93 million HYPE worth $172 million. Within 24 hours, 19 wallets (likely belonging to the same whale) deposited 2.93 million HYPE into Hyperliquid and staked it.

Совет директоров сохранил денежный резерв компании в размере $2,55 млрд, ограничив его использование выплатой дивидендов по привилегированным акциям и обслуживанием процентных платежей по долгу.

Если текущие ежегодные расходы на уровне около $1,76 млрд сохранятся, этого резерва хватит примерно на 17 месяцев. Если компания реализует весь разрешённый объём продажи Bitcoin, общий объём ликвидности увеличится примерно до $3,8 млрд, чего будет достаточно для покрытия обязательств примерно на 26 месяцев.

Bitcoin's July recovery was real. $BTC printed $66,990 on 21 July, its highest price since mid-June, putting it up 15.9% from the $57,803 cycle low recorded on 1 July. That move ran straight into the resistance band traders had flagged for weeks.

Analysts noted that Bitcoin had climbed to its highest level in more than a month but that the rally never accelerated, arguing a decisive break above the previous $67,000 high would be needed to open the path toward $73,000.

That break never came. Instead, BTC was rejected and has spent the days since drifting lower, with the 50-day EMA still sitting above spot price and capping every attempt higher this year.

Momentum vanished almost exactly where confidence looked strongest: trading volume fell 12% to $150 billion, open interest stayed near $116 billion, and liquidations came in at a relatively modest $165 million
