BitMart will shut down its crypto trading platform through an orderly wind-down process after determining that current operating conditions, market circumstances and its long-term strategy no longer support continuing operations, the company said this week.

In a statement, the exchange said it will gradually stop accepting new users, suspend fiat and crypto deposits, prevent new futures positions and spot orders, and phase out copy trading, grid trading, API trading and other automated services beginning July 26, 2026.

Trading across spot and futures markets will cease on Aug. 26, while investment products including Earn, staking, lending and Launchpad will be retired separately. The exchange expects to officially cease platform operations on Jan. 31, 2027, although users will temporarily retain access to their accounts for withdrawals and historical records afterward.

Users are advised to withdraw assets as early as possible by completing KYC verification, closing open positions and submitting withdrawal requests before the Aug. 26 deadline.

The firm said withdrawals will remain available but may be subject to identity verification, blockchain risk analysis, Travel Rule compliance, sanctions screening and source-of-funds checks, with processing times potentially extended during periods of heavy demand.

Ripple continues to expand its business, with banks adopting its technology, and spot $XRP ETFs have already attracted nearly $1.5 billion. Yet its native token $XRP remains nearly 72% below its 2025 peak.

Meanwhile, on-chain data and technical charts suggest $XRP may remain stuck in a sideways range until 2028, backed by historical data.

Ripple Is Growing, But $XRP Isn’t Following

Ripple has spent the year strengthening its ecosystem. This week alone, the company launched the Ripple Mint platform for its RLUSD stablecoin, expanded across multiple blockchain networks, and continued attracting banks to the $XRP Ledger for cross-border payments.

However, stronger business growth has not translated into higher $XRP prices.

One reason is how Ripple’s network works. Banks use the $XRP Ledger to settle transactions almost instantly. Due to this, they do not need to hold large amounts of $XRP for long periods.

At the same time, Ripple also releases millions of $XRP from escrow every month, increasing the available supply.

Meanwhile, spot $XRP ETFs have attracted about $1.49 billion in total inflows, but ETF holdings still account for only 1% to 2% of $XRP’s circulating supply, limiting their impact on price.

Selling Pressure Continues to Outweigh Demand

Market data also shows that $XRP’s futures market has cooled sharply.

Open interest has fallen by nearly 87%, dropping from around $15 billion earlier this year to roughly $1.91 billion. This large wave of deleveraging removed much of the speculative buying that previously helped fuel rallies.

Meanwhile, large investors have quietly bought more than 600 million $XRP during recent price drops. But many small investors have sold their $XRP after months of little price movement. Because of this, $XRP faces selling pressure.

Crypto exchange Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) has started preparing its custody systems and infrastructure for a future in which powerful quantum computers could defeat the cryptography protecting Bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchain networks.

Coinbase Chief Information Security Officer Jeff Lunglhofer outlined the company’s position in a July 23 company blog post:

“A large-scale quantum computer capable of breaking current cryptography will eventually be built. No one knows exactly when. But the work to prepare needs to start now, not when it’s urgent.”

The company said its Independent Advisory Board on Quantum Computing and Blockchain has high confidence that a fault-tolerant quantum computer will eventually be developed. Coinbase formed the board to assess long-term quantum risks facing digital assets, according to Coinbase’s quantum advisory board announcement.

“The cryptography that secures virtually every major blockchain is vulnerable when it arrives. The threat is not imminent, but the timeline is genuinely uncertain,” Lunglhofer added.

The warning does not suggest that quantum computers can currently defeat the cryptography securing major blockchains. Instead, Coinbase argues that upgrading global blockchain systems, moving millions of users and replacing vulnerable cryptographic methods could take years, making early preparation essential.
Coinbase’s preparations align with broader cybersecurity efforts. In June 2026, the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released draft updates to federal post-quantum cryptography standards that incorporate newly standardized quantum-resistant algorithms for identity verification and authentication, underscoring that organizations should continue preparing for the transition to post-quantum security.
