An Australian craft brewery has found an unlikely use for its surplus rooftop solar power: running a small Bitcoin mining operation whose waste heat provides all the hot water needed to brew beer.

Hawkesbury Brewing Co claims to be the first brewery in the world to produce hot water for its brewing process using an integrated Bitcoin mine powered by rooftop solar. The NSW Central Coast business has submerged 16 $BTC miners in a tub of non-conductive liquid that heats to around 90 degrees Celsius. A heat exchanger then transfers that thermal energy into the brewery's incoming town water supply, according to ABC News.

A Practical Fix for a Real Business Problem

The idea came from necessity. Owner Mr. Neale began exploring Bitcoin mining to avoid the fees charged for sending excess solar energy back into the grid. "It'd be nice to give it back to the grid and get paid handsomely for it but it doesn't happen," he said, "so we need to be able to use that power to then power the factory for the rest of the day."

Market sentiment has turned cautious because Bitcoin increasingly correlates with high-growth technology shares.

Tech equity liquidation triggers crypto selloff
Data from TradingView shows that the Nasdaq-100 index closed its previous trading session at 28,128 points, establishing an eleven-week low. This equity drawdown stems from investor anxiety that massive capital expenditures toward AI infrastructure will reduce immediate corporate cash flows and increase corporate debt burdens.

For example, Alphabet purchased $94 billion worth of SpaceX stock during a June initial public offering, highlighting the scale of tech-sector capital allocation.

Commenting on the move, Peter Andersen, Chief Executive Officer of Andersen Capital Management, noted:

“People are thinking, how do we make sense of all this spending, and how much more patient do we have to be before we actually see it translate to actual profits?”

This capital preservation mindset in traditional finance has prompted defensive positioning within digital asset markets, where traders are taking profits rather than risking capital on volatile assets.

The farmer received the Financial Rural Product Note (CPR-F) valued at nearly $100K from BMP, a direct credit society, and the deliverables (each cow) were assigned to Target FIDC, a fintech company that registered the transaction using each animal’s data.While this kind of transaction is not new, the tokenization and monitoring of the cows enables farmers to get a better deal, as creditors can examine the status of the herd at any time, lowering the risks associated with such a loan.

Humberto Brenner, a director at Target FIDC, stressed that this element can lead to a cow reaching up to 2.5 times the price it would have in similar non-monitored agreements. “Monitoring eliminates that uncertainty,” he declared.Numbers issued by the Central Bank of El Salvador revealed that during the first half of 2026, only $35.4 million of the total volume of external remittances was sent to the country using digital currency channels. The figure represents less than 1% of all funds sent to the country in 2026, which reached over $5 billion.

In comparison, cash remittances, which are handed over personally when senders travel from another country to El Salvador to visit their relatives, rose to 3.8%. Even so, crypto remittance numbers are significantly higher than those reached during H1 2025, when these registered $25.4 million in volumes, a rise of 39.1%.

KULR Technology Group, a US-listed battery technology company, and The Smarter Web Company, a UK-listed web services group with a Bitcoin treasury strategy, have sold approximately 511 BTC and used the proceeds to retire approximately $31.7 million of obligations in disclosures published one day apart.

The total comprises $20 million of KULR principal and Smarter Web's exact $11,698,540 repayment. Both companies acted voluntarily and retained substantial Bitcoin reserves; neither disclosure described a lender-forced liquidation. The shared consequence is that financing can turn assets presented as long-term holdings into repayment inventory without ending a treasury strategy.

KULR's July 24 filing said it sold approximately 333 BTC from July 9 through July 23 at a weighted-average price of approximately $64,538, generating about $21.5 million in gross proceeds. It used the net proceeds to clear all principal under its $20 million Coinbase Credit facility. Accrued interest still had to be calculated at month-end and was expected to be paid in August 2026.

KULR said the sale was a deliberate step to reduce interest expense and remove collateral and liquidation risk. An earlier quarterly filing showed a March $5 million draw with a 7% loan fee and a May $15 million draw carrying a 7% yearly financing charge paid monthly. KULR expected 565 pledged BTC to be released and reported approximately 760 BTC still in its treasury.
