JPMorgan believes the recent correction in crypto markets may be approaching exhaustion, with new data pointing to early stabilization after months of heavy de-risking.In a Wednesday report, the bank said flow and positioning indicators suggest the selloff that weighed on crypto into year-end may be approaching a bottom rather than setting up another sharp leg lower.Market experts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou highlighted improving signals across exchange-traded funds and derivatives markets.According to the team, “Signs of a bottoming out in January are also seen in other crypto indicators in perpetual futures and in our position proxies on CME futures.” They noted that things are more neutral after aggressive reductions in late 2025.Bitcoin and Ether ETFs recorded notable outflows in December, even as global equity ETFs attracted a record $235 billion in inflows. That divergence underscored how sharply investors reduced crypto exposure.Since then, bitcoin has fallen by double digits from its recent peak, while major altcoins have posted steeper declines amid a broader cooling in risk appetite.The correction coincided with more volatility and ETF outflows, leaving crypto prices largely range-bound after last year’s rally. However, JPMorgan said ETF data so far in January suggest that selling pressure is easing, as flows into bitcoin and ether funds are stabilizing.Similar signs of bottoming are emerging in perpetual futures markets and in positioning proxies derived from Chicago Mercantile Exchange futures, indicating that the bulk of the position unwind may already be complete.JPMorgan added that conditions could improve further after MSCI decided not to exclude Bitcoin and crypto treasury companies from its global equity benchmarks. Social media platform TikTok has agreed to transfer parts of its US operations to American investors, led by Oracle (ORCL). The deal seals the app’s continued workings in the United States, where it hosts millions of users.Per a report, the social media giant has officially established a US entity with three managing investors: Oracle Corp., private equity firm Silver Lake Management LLC, and Abu Dhabi-based investment company MGX. TikTok Chief Executive Officer Shou Chew — who will continue running ByteDance’s most valuable asset globally — gets a seat on the board. Adam Presser, who was TikTok’s head of operations, trust and safety, will now helm the American venture as CEO.Oracle (ORCL) stock actually slipped during Friday’s trading session following the confirmation of the TikTok US deal. The stock is down 6% in the past week and a further 9% in 2026 so far. Previously, some analysts suggested that Oracle’s involvement in TikTok staying in the US could ignite ORCL stock, but as of now, that is yet to be seen.Furthermore, Oracle is navigating significant challenges in its GPU-as-a-service business while also securing a pivotal deal with TikTok to establish a US-based entity. Analysts have lowered growth expectations, reflecting caution ahead of Oracle’s upcoming earnings announcement. Despite that, the forecasts remain high as analysts remain optimistic about Oracle’s future, with most ratings suggesting significant growth potential from the current price of $189.65. Guggenheim and Jefferies set high price targets at $400, indicating strong confidence.

Bitcoin payments held back by tax policy, not scaling tech: Crypto exec

The biggest obstacle to Bitcoin (BTC) being used as a payment method is tax policy, not scaling technology that reduces settlement times and transaction costs, according to Pierre Rochard, a board member for Bitcoin treasury company Strive.

“Here’s a metaphor: the best athlete can win against the worst athlete 100% of the time, if the best athlete plays. It drops to 0% if he doesn’t play and lets the weak athlete win,” Rochard said about BTC’s current lack of use as a method of payment.

In December 2025, the Bitcoin Policy Institute, a non-profit policy advocacy organization, sounded the alarm on the lack of a de minimis tax exemption for small Bitcoin transactions.

The lack of a de minimis tax exemption means that every time BTC is transferred to another party for payment, it is subject to taxes, hindering its use as a medium of exchange.

US lawmakers are considering limiting the de minimis tax exemption to overcollateralized dollar-pegged stablecoins, which are tokenized US dollars, backed 1:1 by fiat cash deposits or short-term government securities, which sparked backlash from Bitcoiners.

In July 2025, Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis, an ally of the crypto industry, introduced a bill proposing a de minimis tax exemption on digital asset transactions of $300 or less.

Фонд Ethereum (EF) делает ставку на постквантовую (PQ) эру и представил команду, призванную помочь блокчейну стать более устойчивым к ней.

В своем заявлении исследователь EF Джастин Дрейк сказал, что фонд объявил PQ «главным приоритетом в области безопасности», и 2026 год — время для полноценной работы.

«После нескольких лет спокойных исследований и разработок руководство EF официально объявило безопасность PQ главным стратегическим приоритетом. Сейчас 2026 год, и сроки ускоряются. Пора полностью перейти к PQ».

Постквантовые инициативы EF

Дрейк отметил, что исследования PQ начались в 2019 году, и было достигнуто несколько прорывов. Следовательно, пришло время включить это в долгосрочную стратегию Ethereum.

С этой целью была сформирована новая команда PQ, возглавляемая Томасом Коратгером и Эмилем (leanVM).  Это позиционируется как основа криптографического будущего PQ в Ethereum. Команда будет проводить встречи раз в две недели для масштабирования ориентированной на пользователя безопасности PQ.

Кроме того, EF делает большую ставку на криптографию на основе хеширования, предлагая денежный приз в размере 1 миллиона долларов для повышения её безопасности. Часть заявления гласит:

«Приз Poseidon в размере 1 миллиона долларов для повышения надёжности хеш-функции Poseidon. Мы делаем большую ставку на криптографию на основе хеширования, чтобы получить самую сильную и эффективную криптографическую основу».

Инфраструктурная часть также развивается успешно, и разработчики PQ уже сосредоточены на многоклиентской системе консенсуса. Официальная дорожная карта PQ будет опубликована в ближайшее время, согласно EF.
