Historically, Bitcoin bull market peaks align with specific phases of economic expansion. Specifically, historical data indicates that Bitcoin reaches its cycle high when the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) climbs into the 55 to 65 range.

Currently, the ISM PMI data tells a different story. Closing out the previous year at 47.9, the index remains below the expansionary threshold of 50. This suggests that the "coiling" phase of the market is still in effect. Analysts argue that a parabolic rally is typically ignited only after the PMI breaks above 50, implying that the run to $126,000 was merely a precursor to a more substantial move once the broader economy shifts into a high-growth phase.

Technical Hurdles and Market Sentiment

Despite the long-term optimism, Bitcoin faces immediate technical challenges. The asset has recently struggled to maintain its footing above the $90,000 psychological level. Market intelligence firm Glassnode notes that for a true recovery to be confirmed, Bitcoin must reclaim and sustain a price above the Short-Term Holder Cost Basis, currently situated at approximately $99,100.
